critterpedia-react's Introduction

Critterpedia

What is this?

Hopefully a simple search application to look up details about critters (bugs and fish) in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. You can visit the production version here: https://acnh-critterpedia.herokuapp.com/

Contributing

We'd love your feedback! Feel free to:

  • Open a PR if you feel comfortable!
  • If you don't code, or don't feel comfortable opening a pull request, open a new issue! These are how we are going to handle feature requests and bugs (not critters, but those bad code bugs)
  • If there is some other way you would like to contribute, let us know.

Development

Webpack dev server is setup and should auto refresh changes made.

Note this repo uses Prettier to maintain code quality. It will run on a pre-push hook. If you'd like to run prettier right before pushing, it's pretty simple:

  • npx prettier -c --write [file-name] is all it takes. That will run prettier on the file you give it, and write the suggested changes. I suggest committing all your code before doing this so you don't lose all your important app changes in a sea of code quality changes.

critterpedia-react's Issues

change value data

it needs to not have a comma, then we need to change that in the presentation layer

Shadow Sizes!

Would be cool if we could setup shadow sizes. Ilona has added an example SVG into the src/img folder.

The idea is that each fish loads 5 fish shadows, but only one of them is colored in. The SVG she uploaded has no fill.

asc desc sorting

The sortBy function could use a direction prop so we could present the data in either asc or desc

Finish inputting the availabilty

It would be great if we could do this with a script. But manually works too, it just takes forever.

Basically we need to parse the crap in lists.js into the array of months

So taking

month: "March-September (Northern) / September-March (Southern)",

and turning it into

available: {
     northern: [3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9],
     southern: [1, 2, 3, 9, 10, 11, 12],
   },

React Native

This info doesn't change, so why hit the interwebs every time? No need, let's make it local?

No internet, no problem.
