No, the idea is to keep the backend working as it is currently, with just the JS and CSS moving to a different framework. Api platform is used to create an external api endpoint for integration with other apps.
VueJS has a lot of similarities with React and Angular (https://vuejs.org/v2/guide/comparison.html#React), so it should feel a bit familiar when working with it

Handlebars will be completely removed and replaced with VueJS templates

maybe a silly question as I'm very new to the project but are you going to complete decouple the backend using the api platform? Just I can help with React and Angular (a little bit) but I haven't used VueJS before

After some more consideration and recent changes in #312, I've decided to not rewrite the frontend Using VuetifyJs at the moment.
