Out of scope for this package imo. If you always use np to publish, you will never have this situation.

Also, it's perfectly acceptable to backport bug/security fixes to old major/minor versions by issuing multiple patch level releases

It sounds nice in theory, but there are too many false positives, as mentioned by Sam and James.
