I am getting this too. I have used np many times before - but today it is just hanging. I have tried multiple versions of node.
I have reverted back to version 7.7.0 - which is working.

the same here,
that's what I'm getting after updating:
Command failed with exit code 128: git describe --abbrev=0 --tags

Still have this problem in [email protected].
Rollback to version 7.7.0 is work normal.
