yes, the assertText()
method is intended to match only visible, human-readable text on the web page.
If <title>
and <h1>
contain the same content, then the string will be found twice.
You could use assertPattern()
or write a custom expectation.
But you could also use the DomTester extension, which allows to work with CSS selectors on DOM elements. It should cover your use case, see:

Ok. Sounds promising. I actually use a version of simpletest, which is ~10 years of age. Does not have this extension. But I will try to come up to the state here asap.
