widgettoggler's Introduction

WidgetToggler

WidgetToggler is a light-weight tray-bar application for macOS Sonoma that allows users to quickly hide all widgets, for example when screen-sharing. Update: When sharing screens in meetings, macOS Sonoma+ will automatically not share the Widgets, even though you as a user can still see them.

widgettoggler's Issues

Click on desktop – Widgets appear again

Hello and thank you for a MUCH needed feature for the new widgets – very happy that you made this.
I noticed that when you click the desktop in order to show the desktop, the widgets appear again (even though they are hidden by widgettoggler). As soon as you click again to let the windows appear again, the widgets disappear again.

Thank you!

Thanks so much for implementing this. So weird that it's not included in the OS!

Doesn't work

Clicking hide or so widgets does nothing. I'm on macOS Sonoma 14.2.1

UI state not updated properly with automatic focus mode switching

WidgetToggler is a very useful tool. I use it together with a focus mode that is activated based on a fixed schedule.

However, I recognized that while the desktop widgets are shown and hidden as they should be, WidgetToggler's user interface does not update correctly. After the widgets were shown again, WidgetToggler's menu bar icon is still in the "hidden" state and the menu contains the item "Show Widgets".

Switching works correctly when I manually activate and deactivate the focus mode, but it does not if the focus mode is deactivated automatically.

Steps to reproduce:

  • Add a focus mode that controls WidgetToggler
  • Add a schedule to the mode that, e.g., activates the mode for one minute in the near future.
  • Wait until the focus mode was activated (widgets disappear) and deactivated again (widgets re-appear)
  • Result: WidgetToggler shows the wrong menu bar icon.
