Entente

Entente is a web application for creating communities and hosting events. It's inspired by Meetup.

Stack

  • Ruby on Rails 4
  • PostgreSQL

  • Bootstrap / HTML / CSS
  • jQuery for AJAX requests
  • For Testing: RSpec and Capybara

Minimum Viable Product

  • RSpec unit tests and Capybara integration tests
  • Create a new user account
  • Log in / Log out via BCrypt user authentication
  • Shepherd tour on homepage
  • Create, update, delete, show groups and their events
  • Error and success messages offers user feedback
  • Join/leave groups
  • Filter groups via React Day Picker
  • Search groups and events by name
  • View your joined groups and other people's groups
  • Responsive UI

Users table

Remove uniqueness from name(unless you were thinking of this as username), remove index
Add email field - index and unique

Also, email is better as if you have time later on, you can create a Mailer to remind people of events etc
