I set up an image based on this Dockerfile to run as non-root and realized that my WOL switch no longer shows the status of the host. gliderlabs/docker-alpine#253 gives explanation - got it fixed by installing "iputils" package, as suggested there.

I adapted this image in my smart home ecosystem but it's hard to rely on it as it is not matching HA release schedule. If it would help you maintaining it, I could send you PR's with version updates. But seeing how you have it already set up with autobuilds and such I'm sure there's a leaner way to do it e.g. by subscribing to HA releases using GitHub API. Would you be open to discuss it?

Since pip runs as root during build, running the resulting container as regular user makes installing new integrations not possible because it tries to use /usr/lib/python3.6 which is not writable. Should running in a virtualenv be considered?
