This can be solved by killing the child process and then running an audit 
command that allows 'port' to clean up half-transacted changes.

For fool proof operation, running the 'port' command in simulate mode, 
capturing the output, scan for modified packages, and then running the commands 
one at a time checking for user [Cancel] action each time.

Have politely e-mailed two different addresses (incl. 
[email protected]) many times over three months and have never 
received a reply.

Workaround: I should start on the HomeBrew-UI version because MacPorts seems to 
be on auto-pilot these days.

Deactivating or Uninstalling a Port does not properly request of the 'port' 
command line tool to automatically resolve dependencies. 

The application shows the message 
"/opt/local/var/macports/sources/rsync.maports.org/release/ports/PortIndex does 
not seem to exist.", but that file is in the 
directory"/opt/local/var/macports/sources/rsync.maports.org/release/tarballs/por
ts/PortIndex" of my port's installation.

Find a port with last variant enabled, typically X11, the Info tab will show 
the variant tag as not underlined. 

The constant PORT_PATH in PortConstants.java should point to:

/opt/local/var/macports/sources/rsync.macports.org/release/tarballs/ports/

instead of:

/opt/local/var/macports/sources/rsync.macports.org/release/ports/

Not available from command line with 'port install jportsui' 

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Move your ports tree from 
/opt/local/var/macports/sources/rsync.macports.org/release/ports/ to a 
different location, e.g. by using a different rsync mirror or syncing from SVN, 
or having local repositories
2. Start JPortsUI

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
JPortsUI warns that 
"/opt/local/var/macports/sources/rsync.macports.org/release/ports/PortIndex" 
doesn't exist (because it is in /opt/dports/PortIndex and 
/Users/clemens/Development/Ports/ports/PortIndex on my system).
JPortsUI then assumes MacPorts isn't installed and offers me to take me to the 
installer page.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Release downloaded 2012-11-08, OS X 10.8.2, MacPorts latest trunk.
