Nginx HTTP server and reverse proxy (nginx) S2I Sample Application

This is a very basic sample application repository that can be built and deployed on OpenShift using the Nginx HTTP server and a reverse proxy builder image.

The application serves a single static html page via nginx.

To build and run the application:

$ s2i build https://github.com/sclorg/nginx-ex centos/nginx-112-centos7 mynginximage
$ docker run -p 8080:8080 mynginximage
$ # browse to http://localhost:8080

You can also build and deploy the application on OpenShift, assuming you have a working oc command line environment connected to your cluster already:

$ oc new-app centos/nginx-112-centos7~https://github.com/sclorg/nginx-ex

You can also deploy the sample template for the application:

$ oc new-app -f https://raw.githubusercontent.com/sclorg/nginx-ex/master/openshift/templates/nginx.json

nginx-ex's Issues

template does not start a build / build an image! 

oc start-build nginxhosting
The ImageStreamTag "nginx:1.12" is invalid: from: Error resolving ImageStreamTag nginx:1.12 in namespace openshift: imagestreams.image.openshift.io "nginx" not found

This seems to be caused by https://github.com/sclorg/nginx-ex/blob/staging/openshift/templates/nginx.json#L96

  • Note: This may not be a bug with the template but a bug with my clusters registry search parameters, in that it can't find the correct image to pull.

README gives bad instructions - can't pull template. 

oc new-app -f https://raw.githubusercontent.com/sclorg/nginx-ex/master/openshift/templates/nginx.json
error: unable to load template file "https://raw.githubusercontent.com/sclorg/nginx-ex/master/openshift/templates/nginx.json": unable to read URL "https://raw.githubusercontent.com/sclorg/nginx-ex/master/openshift/templates/nginx.json", server reported 404 Not Found, status code=404
error: no match for "https://raw.githubusercontent.com/sclorg/nginx-ex/master/openshift/templates/nginx.json"

Should be:

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/sclorg/nginx-ex/master/openshift/templates/nginx.json
