astro-microfrontends

This demo takes advantage of EcmaScript Modules (ESM) to server-side render micro-frontends. Express is used for serving assets, but ideally one would have a dedicated CDN hosting them.

Usage

Micro-frontends

  • Build each microfrontend with npm run build
  • Start each microfrontend with node server.js

Shell application

  • Build the shell with npm run build
  • Start the shell with npm run preview

SSR in shell breaks when hooks are present in MicroFrontend

Did you ever get this to work with an example where you are utilizing a react hook in one of the MicroFrontends?

You'll end up with multiple react versions since Astro injects its own? Which then results in something like:
Cannot read useId of undefined

I tried externalizing react in the shell app with something like:

     vite.build.rollupOptions.output.paths = {
        react: 'https://esm.sh/stable/[email protected]/denonext/react.mjs',
        'react-dom/': 'https://esm.sh/[email protected]&pin=v135/',
      }`

But that led me into a world of pain 😂
