successionrestore's Issues

Working, please do not leave the app...

Similar to an issue that was resolved. The ipsw was deleted but at the link found the ipsw is still there just not downloading. This is on iPhone XS Max. On my iPad Pro, also A12 it works fine.

Thx bootlooped my 6s+

Just wanted to say thanks after INSTALLING only I attempted to open it and bam Respring and infinite bootloop so thanks for making all my money wasted on the tweaks and donations I’ve gave was forced to update to 12.2 so yeah thx

Stuck on still mounting filesystem

I've looked through the thread of similar issues and haven't been able to make it work with the few commands that were recommended to use.

Pressing Erase iPhone doesn’t start the restoration

Version: 16C5050a - 12.1.1b3
Device: iPad8,3
Jailbreak: Chimera 1.0.4
Succession Version: 1.2.4
IPSW: Local
Bug: Pressing Erase iPhone doesn’t start the restoration

What have I tried so far?
Try rebooting
Downgrade to an earlier version (on my other device with unc0ver, I tried 1.1.6 and 1.2 and only 1.1.6 works, so the bug started in 1.2)

The story:
I pressed Erase iPhone (at the bottom), then it an alert said “ Mounting Filesystem... “. Then I pressed OK and it still stays in the Erase iPhone screen, not doing anything.
I can’t downgrade to 1.1.6 because it doesn’t support A12X/Chimera. I don’t want to use Restore rootFS because I want to cleanly wipe my iPad.

Info.plist

All the sites I have tried signing the ipa with says the Info.plist file is missing. I know the file is there, but maybe theres something wrong with it?

Nothing Happens like #32

iPhone 11,6; A12; iOS 12.0; Build 16A366; Sucession Version 1.3.1
Button after IPSW Download does nothing tried rebooting 2h or so but no chance...

Pressing erase doesn't start anything

Hi,
I got an issue with Succession 1.3.2, i use an iPhone XS so A12 on iOS 12.1.2 and i want to start on a new clean base without anything for creating a good jailbreak setup that is conveniant for my usage because for the moment it's not what i exactly want anyway.
I doens't touch the settings like "use Test mode" or anything like that just press downloaded the ipsw with the app and use it but when i press erase iphone i got the pop-up about mouting filesystem can fail, but i press ok and nothing happen so is it an issue with my device or with the tweak ?
Thanks in advance for your answer.

iOS 11.0.3 on Succession 1.3.5 stuck on "Mounting filesystem tap OK to continue"

When using Succession 1.3.5 to restore rootFS on 11.0.3, Succession displays "mounting filesystem tap OK to continue". when pressing OK, nothing happens.

Downgrading to 1.3.4 worked perfectly!

Attach failed

I've looked everywhere for an answer to this. My phone has been having issues so I wanted to restore it.

I have an iPhone 7+ On 12.1.2 jailbroken with u0 3.0.1, and I am using Succession 1.2.4. After downloading the IPSW, when I go to restore my iPhone it says, "Attach failed, exit code 5 (hopefully his will never happen because I will have no clue how to debug it)."

Decryption on pre-9.3.5 devices is not very possible.

There is a big issue with this. a Jailbreak/Kernel Exploit does not give us access to the AES engine, which means we need a bootchain (SecureROM, iBoot, iBSS, iBEC, etc) exploit to give us access to the AES engine and thus be able to decrypt the DMG. If you used OTA updates, this restriction would be eliminated.

Activation failed after restore

Activation failed after restore on iPhoneSE, either directly connected to wifi activation or connected to a computer using iTunes activation, or using tools such as 3UTools. (Don't worry about me, I have used futurerestore to restore the system and can activate it afterwards.) I suspect it is related to my baseband version, because I am currently using 12.2 sep+baseband with iOS12.1.1.

Possible to also UPDATE to unsigned versions that are higher?

Hey I recently found your tweak and wonders if for A12 it would be possible to also update from like 12.0.1 to like 12.1.2.

I had blobs they are invalid bc i didn’t knew I had to add my own appnonces.

Hope to hear from you soon! I’m impressed by your work!

Touchscreen is unresponsive after restore

iPhone10,3 (iPhone X GSM) running 12.1.2

After restore, the touch screen is completely unresponsive. Probably some file that needs to be excluded that isn't.

Unfortunately there's no real way for me to do a "project-unbootloop" style method of finding this file as using futurerestore breaks Face ID due to incompatible Savage. This might prevent release for a long time.

This bug is confirmed present on the iPhone X and confirmed absent on the iPhone 5s (and probably absent on the iPhone SE, or #10 wouldn't exist). Anyone who tries this on any device other than the 3 I've already confirmed it on, please comment below.

Download IPSW issue

On iPad mini 4 Wifi 12.1.1. After downloading and extracting the IPSW it is displayed for a long time "retrieving download". Several minutes later, when I press "Back" in the "Download complete" Popup, I am redirected to the home, it's still marked "Download clean file system" without any possibility to restore. After checking there is nothing in /var/mobile/media/succesion.

Special Thanks

Upon opening the "Special Thanks" section, it does not allow the Back function.

Planned Features

Planned features for Succession

[version I plan to implement them in in hard brackets]

  • Implement kernel hash sum comparison for verifying IPSWs after extraction and present a scary warning if the hash doesn't match (as suggested by @arx8x ) [1.0]
this was sorta done, I verified using the BuildManifest because the kernel cache in the IPSW didn't match the one on device (even with the correct IPSW)
  • Download a "message of the day" file from this git on initial launch to allow Succession to present users with a message (and possibly make this message different based on the user's iOS version and Succession version) [1.0]
  • Create a settings page [1.0]
  • Implement partialZipBrowser for downloads (sorta implemented in 1.3.5 as partial extraction, unfortunately for downloads, it requires hardcoding byte ranges and that will take a lot more work than I anticipated, so that's off the list for the moment)
  • Add the ability to specify path to rsync
  • Add the ability to specify path to IPSW [1.1]
  • If /var/mobile/Media/Succession/ipsw.ipsw doesn’t exist, look for other IPSW files in /var/mobile/Media/Succession [1.1]
  • Add the ability to download rsync if it isn’t installed (in case Succession is installed by something other than a package manager)
  • Add the ability to take an apfs snapshot before the restore to allow "undo Succession" on iOS 10.3+ using other apfs snapshot management tools
  • Add the ability to create a new orig-fs apfs snapshot after the restore is complete to allow snapshot-based restore tools such as pwn20wndstuff/Rollectra11 to be used after the restore
  • Add 9.3.5 and earlier support by downloading root filesystem keys (I think ipsw.me has an API for this???) [1.4]
  • Make it look prettier
  • Download attach instead of adding pmbonneau's repo (EDIT: comex gave me permission to bundle it)[1.4.6]
  • Try to recreate this concept [1.5]
  • SuccessionCLI

Bug?

ios 12.1.2 iphone 8 plus. Been trying all the successions and the latest deb of 1.1.2 acts like it is working after rebooting and trying over after 1-3 times. Says it "successfully restored" or something along that lines and shows the apple logo and a progress bar, but after a couple seconds it resprings and then I am brought back to my homescreen unjailbroken. I reboot and gotta reinstall everything even though trying to do a full restore. Also sometimes it gets the mounting bug

Invisible Restore Button on Succession v1.1.1

Just tried to restore my iPhone X on 12.1.1. I noticed that the "restore" button is invisible on the warning page, but it can still be activated by tapping the bottom of the screen.

Other than this small UI bug, the download and restore process were successful.

Succession 1.3.4 hangs on usr/share

No matter how many times I try to run it, it’ll always freeze there. I’ve left it overnight with no success. I’ve tried to use 1.3.7, but I still get the Mounting Filesystem information. iPhone 5S, iOS 10.3.3. If I hard reboot (probably not the best thing to do but it’s either reboot or leave it at that), then my installed apps will all crash upon launch and not work (defaults still work). Sideloading and jailbreaking my device again works fine, but if I try to run Succession then this happens again

Nothing happens after tapping OK.

Hi, I have a lot of exams in the past, I am sorry that there is no timely feedback.
Failed to restore my iPad (12.1.1) using Succession version 1.3.3. Nothing happens after tapping OK. I followed your instructions (mount 'disk4s2s1' to 'mnt1'), and successfully restored my iPad. Then I tried the second time, I met a new problem that was no permission to make the "mnt1" in "MobileSoftwareUpdate", but it was solved with the help of Halo-Michael.
I hope these feedbacks can help you, of course, thank you very much.

Can't erase my iPad 4,2 - iOS ver.: 12.0.1 - iOS Build: 16A404

I've an iPad 4,2 with iOS 12.0.1 and Succession updated to latest version (1.3.2). I tried to download custom ipsw and downloading it from the Succession itself; in both of cases when i click on "Erase iPhone", a popup message showup telling me "Mounting Filesystem - This step might fail..." and it fail.
I tried many many time rebooting the device, but the same result happen everytime, even trying to re-jailbreak and uninstalling and re-installing succession itself.

Could you please help me understanding what's is wrong or where i'm wrong?

Regards.

Identifying rootfilesystem dmg - iOS 12.0.1 - iPhone 6S

Hi man,
after downloading the .ipsw file of iOS 12.0.1 and put in the Succession folder, i start the unzipping process but after very very long time i saw that's stucked on "Identifying rootfilesystem dmg".

I've successfully installed, recently, the latest version of Succession.

Could you please help me understanding what's happening and how to solve that?

Regards

[Feature Request]: Creation of a background process(daemon)

When downloading an ipsw would like to exit the application and do other things(watch youtube) while it's being downloaded, could have the application create a daemon service for background processes then push notification on successful download event or something like that.

Crashing upon clicking "Prepare for restore!"

Device information: iPhone 5s (iPhone6,1) on iOS 10.2 (Build 14C92)
I am using Succession v1.3.5 from the BigBoss repo

At first I didn't have enough space when I was downloading the IPSW, so I freed some space up and removed contents inside var/mobile/media/Succession.

Afterwards, my app crashed when it was attempting to unzip the IPSW so I gave up letting the app handle it and I manually extracted the DMG file myself. What I did was download the respective IPSW and used TransMac to retrieve the DMG. I followed instructions I found on Reddit that said to open the IPSW and find pull the largest DMG file within, and open it with TransMac and expand (extract) that. Then I transferred it to my device and tried restoring once more.

As the title says, when I click "Prepare to restore!", my app immediately crashes, and there is nothing helpful within my logs.

I should note that my device no longer has access to my carrier's network as I have a new phone. When I activated the new one, the sim on my old phone automatically stopped working, so i never bothered taking it out. I did try running Succession on airplane mode and that didn't help
