Elasticsearch has now created a tool called elastic agent which will replace the other beats functionality.
Describe the solution you'd like
I'd like to see the installation and configuration added here. It should be a copy paste of what is already installed. I presume documentation will take the most time.
Any idea how to get filebeat modules working with this. It's easy enough to add the modules path to the config. I suppose we can just run the cmd filebeat module enable. Or a move file. I'm not sure how to approach it.
This formula is starting to have defaults that are duplicated in multiple places, It would be good to have a defaults file or map.jinja file to set sane defaults in one place rather than have them scattered throughout the formula. Then when a default needs to be changed it is referenced in a single place rather than needing to change it in multiple places throughout the formula.
I'm upgrading some beats from version 7 to version 8. When creating the repos it goes and appends the new repo instead of changing the repo and therefore leaving the installation in an inconsistent state.
