Using rusqlite::vtab::VTabConnection::handle() about rusqlite HOT 4 OPEN

So you are using both handle and from_handle ?

@gwenn yes, in the prototype I’m running:

let conn = unsafe { Connection::from_handle(db.handle()).unwrap() }

and then:

conn.execute(format!("CREATE TABLE {basename}_index (filename TEXT PRIMARY KEY, metadata TEXT)"), ())?;

which seems to work fine. I also store conn in my virtual table struct for use in other callbacks. So far I haven’t run into any issues related to this (granted I’m just getting started).

I guess that even if we introduce a new method on VTabConnection:

    pub unsafe fn connection(&mut self) -> Result<Connection> {
        Connection::from_handle(self.0)
    }

we should keep it unsafe because some operations are not allowed like closing the connection...

@gwenn, I’m a very casual Rust user and don’t have an in-depth understanding of rusqlite API design, but perhaps there’s a world where VTabConnection has all of the same querying methods as Connection (execute, query_row, etc., but not close)?
