extension-goodreads-ratings-for-amazon's Issues

Seems broken now.

GoodReads has appeared to undergo a redesign and now the extension doesn't appear to work. It used to show Goodreads ratings on the Amazon page but doesn't anymore.

Still not working

Hi, @rubenmv

I saw other posts (which have been closed) that it's now been fixed in version 2.0.3, so I downloaded it from GitHub and loaded it as an unpacked extension. I still have the problem with the extension not working; nothing is showing on the Amazon page—no rating, no text, no link. It's like I don't even have an extension. I even tried enabling the new feature on the option page, but still nothing.

Is there a way to see the error log or console log? See if the extension is even running or doing anything.

Sorry for keeping opening new "Issue" posts; I'm not sure how else to get in touch.

Update: It maybe Goodreads, it always loads slow for me and lately been having problems. So that might be why it's not showing, If it starts working I will "Close" this post.

Allow goodreads ratings link to open in a new tab

I often tend to click on Goodreads rating link to see reviews in detail, but this opens Goodreads website in the same tab. Having to right click to open a new tab tends to be annoying, so I was wondering if it'd be possible to at least give an option in the settings to configure this behavior, something like 'Open Goodreads in a new tab [Yes/No]'.

'Cross-Origin Request Blocked' error

I haven't used the extension before, but when I installed it today I couldn't get it to work.

After some debugging I found out that calling fetch(urlGoodreads) in retrieveBookInfo() fails and throws this error:

Cross-Origin Request Blocked: The Same Origin Policy disallows reading the remote resource at https://www.goodreads.com/book/isbn?isbn=XXXXXXXXX. (Reason: CORS header ‘Access-Control-Allow-Origin’ missing).

I'm using Firefox 64.0

Show rating details on hover

Would be great if it can show rating details by hovering on the stars like amazon does.

Something like this. Rating details is available at goodreads.

Slow Loading

I've been using a greasyfork script for a while, that does the same as this. But I've switch to your extension because of better support.

The only problem I've noticed is the extension seems slowing in loading that goodreads ratings "widget" compared to the script. I know goodreads has slow loading times for a lot of people so I don't know if that is the cause or not.

Just thought I would ask if anyone else has slow loading on widget.

Update: looking at extension code it does seem to do a better job at search for correct book using multiple methods, where the other script is so simple compared to it.

Broken with new Amazon layout

Hi Ruben,

Just to let you know that this is now broken as Amazon (at least UK) is now using the US layout for books

Cheers!

Not Showing

For the past day or so, the chrome extension is no longer working doesn't show for any book. I don't know if amazon changed something on site layout or it goodreads doing.
