If I download say, fifteen youtube videos at the same time using 15
iterations of the script simultaneously, sometimes some of the downloads
won't complete. So i run the script again when this happens, and it says
that it doesn't think youtube explicitly allows resume function, do i want
to try to resume (y/n)? However, anything I type into the terminal when
prompted for a y or n will cause the program to stop after saying
y: command not found.
To reproduce, download a video, cancel download halfway through, then try
to download again.
On an unrelated note, if there's an irc channel or mailing list I don't
know about where people can discuss ways to use the app, like in scripts to
download whole youtube channels, download video urls from reddit rss feeds
or ways to incorporate it into greasemonkey scripts, I would love to know
what it is. This is such a powerful program but I often feel like I'm not
taking advantage of its full capabilities because I'm not a programmer.

Currently HTTP redirects need to be explicitly allowed, we should instead
allow them unless there is a reason to disable them (i.e. we want to see
the redirects).

I even used servicecatcher to grab the url from the request when using a

At first I thought it would be tough because their movie selection is a Flash
interface.
But then a nice helpful article direct linked to a few movies:
blogs.amctv.com/future-of-classic/2009/03/b-movies-online.php
For example, for Herc Unch., they give:
link.brightcove.com/services/link/bcpid13332913001/bclid14056327001/bctid1409558
7001
Which redirects to:
www.amctv.com/videos/b-movies/?
bcpid=13332913001&bclid=14056327001&bctid=14095587001
When I pass in the second URL to get_flash_videos, rtmpdump doesn't seem to
know how to
handle the input. So I wrote an echo bash script (echo "$0 $@" > output.txt),
renamed it to
rtmpdump, and here's a capture of the output:
rtmpdump -- flv --app a500/d7 --tcUrl rtmp://brightcove.fcod.llnwd.net/a500/d7
--swfUrl
http://admin.brightcove.com/viewer/federated/f_012.swf?bn=590&pubId=196217268
--auth
rtmp --rtmp://brightcove.fcod.llnwd.net/a500/d7 playpath --flv AMC_-
_Hercules_Unchained.flv --196217268_14052961001_HerculesUnchained-S.flv
.. as you can see, the arguments appear to be a little garbled. "-- flv" (with
a space in it) and "--
auth rtmp --rtmp://..." which should probably be "--auth <somestring> --rtmp
rtmp://...",
etc.
Soooooo close :) (You guys rock, by the way!)

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.try to download http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sF8nBnersGo
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
It should try to download the video, but instead I get 'Error: Couldn't
extract video ID at ./get_flash_videos-1.15 line 2942'
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.15 on Ubuntu Linux
Please provide any additional information below.
I've included a few lines of replacement code ... not exactly a patch but
I've spent way too much time already today to download a LOLcat video ...

This animation cannot be downloaded.
When the swf file is downloaded, it is likely to become an error.
Swf is becoming a main current in nicovideo, too. It is happy when

The file name where Japanese was included when downloading it is garbled.
It remodeled it.
It is diff.
As for this tool, I very wonderful love this tool.

Youtube changed the in-page configuration syntax of their player again today.
Was: CFG_VIDEO_ID: '5tuff'
Is : 'VIDEO_ID': '5tuff'
This should be a one-line change to where you changed before--at least, the
one-line change worked for me.
(Youtube devs must be really bored today or something ...)

Small patch for two issues I discovered while using the youku module more often.
1. The unescaping of the unicode title for the filename doesn't handle mixed
unicode sequences
and regular ASCII characters well.
2. The location returned doesn't always have a file extension on it and would
result in a 404 if we
used it as is.

it would be nice if get-flash-videos could support the player.
get-flash-videos tries multiple generic urls, but in the end fails. as a

offer to download a single track or all tracks.

This is obviously a Brightcove video.
From just skimming the errors I wonder if it's parsing the GET string
correctly. It reports a "playerId" but no "video_id".
As a side note, Data::AMF::Packet doesn't seem to have a Ubuntu .deb
package, nor is it a dependency of the .deb I installed from here. I
installed a copy through CPAN, but most folks won't know how to do that.

Here's a contribution to support tudou and heidou (hd.toudou.com). One caveat
with tudou is that
they use a CDN to serve their videos and I have noticed that some servers will
return a 403 for no
reason. I've tried to work around this by randomising the server selection.
May I take this opportunity to give a bit more feedback on the download
progress screen? I've
noticed after displaying downloading http://server/video.flv it won't actually
display the progress
until 1% is reached. When I was testing with videos on heidou, 1% percent
often came to be 2 to 3
megs and for a while I was wondering why the script was doing nothing while the
script waited until
1% was grabbed before displaying the progress bar. Displaying average speed
and time taken at
the end wouldn't hurt either.

Currently find_video has rather different semantics between RTMP and HTTP
downloads. This should be changed so they aren't different.
This could also enable additional features like returning metadata.

Video clips from this site can be downloaded with rtmpdump (see examples in
attached text file), and it would great if you could add support for it.
Thanks.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Try to download an age-protected video, or one that has been removed.
2. Put in username and password.
3. Watch the explosion!
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
* In the case of a removed video, it mistakes the removal for age
verification and asks for name and password uselessly.
* In either case, fails to find the login form it is looking for or the
username or password fields, and dies.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.16, Ubuntu Linux
Please provide any additional information below.
I managed to trace through all the nastiness and get some code that seems
to work, it's a fairly large patch and maybe a little rough, but you should
be able to work with it I hope...
I know you're like, "why is he following all these redirections after the
form submit? He's just going to jump back to the video page anyway!" but
the first one seems to set extra cookies and I don't even know WHAT the
second one is doing but before I was following it I was just getting the
'please sign in' page on the final retrieval...I honestly don't love web
scraping THAT much to be doing the extra work!

I'm very new to Linux, so may well have made a mess of things. If so, I'm
sorry. Could someone give me a step by step guide?
If I can get this to work, I would like to download the other extra bits
from "The Office"

It was announced today that Apple detects the user-agent and won't play
videos for linux users. I don't know if that's why it isn't working, but it
can't help.
