make_your_robot_tick's Issues

When will the charging stations be powered on?

Will all the charging stations be switched on at once? At the beginning of the competition, and will follow the cycle mentioned in fig.5 of page 5, till the end of 5 minutes of the competition?

Also how long will the Energy storage station take to measure the charge collected by the bot?

Tests on game fields

The white line in the competition might give different IR values to which the IR gives with the white line we use for testing. So will there be time for IR CALIBRATION before the competition?
And are we allowed to test our bot on the platform before the competition ?

Power Sources and Competition Platform

In the pdf,it is not mentioned what will the voltage of power sources and also, please clarify the difference between the different types of power souces because in page 4 in the pdf,it is written that there will be three types of power sources -regular ,accelerated and fast but In page no.5,Graph of slow, medium and fast is given with their respective activation and deactivation timing, this is really confusing... and also please tell us about nature of energy storage station(ESS),that means, will the potential between the Terminals of ESS will increase with charging or not.
In competition platform, there is no white line towards fast power sources as we have in other types of power sources and also ,distance between energy storage station and it's very near white line is not mentioned,
And please tell us why you have given that the voltage between any two terminal of our robot must not go above 48 volts, why only 48 volts, why not 50 or any other number?

48V Voltage limit

Why you have given that the voltage between any two terminal of our robot must not go above 48 volts, why only 48 volts, why not 50 or any other number ?

EMERGENCY BUTTON

It is mentioned in the rule book that for security reasons all robots must have an emergency button for the robot to come to halt instantly.
So, is it enough if the robot just comes to halt or should the power supply to the microcontroller be cut off?

Regarding QUALIFYING rounds and diameter of ENERGY STORAGE STATION

1)The diameter of ENERGY STORAGE STATION is not mentioned anywhere in the rule book .
2)It is given in the rule book that the teams that have been approved can participate in the two qualifying rounds of the competition, also a ranking will be maintained on the basis of the points scored(the total of the two scores) to determine the teams that will qualify for the final round.
So how will the two qualifying rounds be conducted? Are the two qualifying rounds same?

Insufficient power

We are using a Power Bank(5v ,1amp) to power the mobile base, but the power is not sufficient for both the motors as well as the sensors we are using . As an alternative we could not use a lipo battery with embedded NTC as it is not available for us. So can you give us some suggestions ?

Sample question about the rules for the organisation comitee

How to ask questions or make remarks about the rules

To ask question to the organisation team or give remarks, just create a new issue in the GitHub project.

In the content of your issue :

  • Don't forget to add the "question" tag if your issue is a question
  • Use the "bug" tag to report an error in the documents
  • Choose a meaningful title, be precise and complete on your requests
  • Before answering a question, always search if a similar question is not already asked
  • Always be respectful in your questions or comments
  • Cite the extract of the rulebook you refer to (example below)

MYRT_RULES_V1.2 page 15
3.4.3 Emergency Button
For security reasons, all robots, must have an emergency button (in red) that is easily accessible (on top of the robot) to the referee. The referee can press this button in case of a major issue and thereby stop the match. If the referee presses this button the robot must come to a halt instantly.
The organising committee reserves the right to reject any system it deems dangerous.

Answers

The MYRT organization team will give official answer to questions in batches about every weeks.
If enough modifications are made to the rules, a new version of the document will be published and will supersede the previous version.

Welcome on board and good luck !

not clear how bot charges from the charging place

Good morning
I have a doubt regarding the charging and discharging process by the energy harvesting system
Should It be a wireless charging and discharging or else wired charging and discharging ???

LIMITING RESISTOR

  1. Does the limiting resistance vary for a source , or is it constant?
  2. In the grading pattern it is given that , if the energy delivered by the fast charging station is completely delivered to the ESS 500 points are awarded respectively 250 points for the accelerated and 66 points for the regular station. So, how do you differentiate between how much energy is being delivered from the 3 different sources to calculate the points

Voltage and characteristics of the power sources

What is the voltage of the power sources ?

What are the differences between the different types of power souces ?
In page 4 of the RuleBook, it is written that there will be three types of power sources -regular ,accelerated and fast. But in page 5, Graph of slow, medium and fast is given with their respective activation and deactivation timing.

Regarding Discharging of the bot

If the Bot goes to an electrode which is not active at that time ,then will the energy harvesting circuit of the robot discharge?
That is, will the circuit of the charging station break when it is not active?

Nature of the Energy Storage Station

What is the nature of energy storage station(ESS),that means, will the potential between the Terminals of ESS will increase with charging or not ?

bot charging

How does the robot charge when I goes to a position of station any example pics

REGARDING LIPO 3.7V with embedded NTC

Where will we get a 3.7v lipo battery with embedded NTC?
It is mentioned in schematics of SAMboard that we could short the GS pin if we want to connect a lipo battery without NTC, but we could not find the GS pin anywhere on the board.

Competition timeline and availability of the development board

The rule book states that each team is required to send a document containing the technical specifications to the organizers. By when is this to be done?
Also, we would like to know a rough timeline of events of the rounds of the competition.
We were also informed that all participants will receive a mobile platform [ the SAMboard] with basic parts on which we can build our robot. Could you please tell us by when are we going to receive the same?

Thank you.

Grading pattern

It is mentioned that the robot that delivers the maximum amount of energy will be declared as the winner, then what is the criteria of points?
How are the points awarded for the energy collected?
Should the robot follow the white line?
