I actually had the same issue when I tried to build OpenSSL 1.0.1 beta myself.
Haven't figured it out yet, it could be something with the build options... or
not.

The problem is that Python (on Ubuntu 10.04) explicitly loads the version
"0.9.8" of the OpenSSL libraries, and SSLyze loads the highest version
available (1.0.0 in your case). See:
$ ldd /usr/bin/python
When running SSLyze, the two versions somehow clash and it triggers a segfault
when libssl 1.0.0 calls functions within libcrypto 0.9.8 (instead of calling
librcypto 1.0.0).
The only workaround I've found so far is to download Python and compile it.
Unfortunately I don't think there's anything I can do within SSLyze to fix that.
