This extension does EXACTLY what I need, but when I got everything working, the actual reloading of extensions wasn't happening. Perhaps Chrome changed something recently in an update. I've found a working, open source extension called Extension Reloader that uses a button to do the reloading, and it works. I pulled the reloadExtensions function from there into your code, and now everything is running BEAUTIFULLY.

I use Opera and noticed that it this extension auto opens the Opera Extension tab after every reload, I assume because the url for the extension tab is different than in Chrome.

There are two methods of automatically reloading extensions, and each has its own problem. One fails to reload changes to content scripts automatically, the other closes any inspect windows currently open on background scripts.

An options page needs to be added in order to allow people to choose which reload method they prefer at any given time.

I tried this in Opera using the Download Chrome Extension extension for Opera.

I noticed it auto opens the Opera Extension tab after every reload because the url for the extension tab CHROME_EXTENSION_URL is different in Chrome, leaving you with an ever-increasing number of these tabs.

I know this is meant for Chrome, not Opera, but seems an easy fix and just wanted to report it. Thx.
