Simitone v3-OGL Crash Fix & 3 notes on compatability CC

I was able to get Simitone the latest version working however it REQUIRES using the old exe from version 2 (just overwrite the simitone.windows.exe), and deleting the nodebug piff file found here: Content\Patch\craftingworkbench_nodebug.piff

#0. Like said before to fix crash at reticulating splines, first load a regular game add inventory item and save, longer play may be necessary to find the magic compatability recipie.
#1, CC will work provided the download folder does not have any far hot hit files
#2, far files will work if they are extracted, however it can read the game far fine bug
#3. GameData\Skins is very sensitive of what CC skins it will support, a few are usually fine, I haven't tracked down the type of skin content that causes it to crash on loading wardrobe.

I've followed the FreeSO.org project for quite some time, very happy with the results, and appreciative, and thankful to EA for its tolerance and support as well..

***Currently working on getting the Mandrake Gaming Edition version of the sims 1 working on other linux, so far the last version that will work on is the last version of Mandriva rpm distro (OLD like 2010) i think it has something to do with the change from xfree86 to xorg breaks it. Let me know if this would be helpful for this work as well to any of the sub-projects.

Object value is not reflected in the interface correctly

When attempting to sell an object the refunded value displayed on the interface is often incorrect. The price shown will be the catalogue price, however items depreciate over time and lose their value. Although selling the item will refund the correct amount, the interface will show the incorrect amount, giving the opinion you will receive more money.

This can be replicated by placing an object (ie a desk) on a lot, waiting for a few days to pass and then selling the item. The refund price will show the original cost but you will receive significantly less.

SimPeople(Japanese Ver) support + general bugs

I have a Japanese copy of sims 1, so I tried running Simitone, but it tried to open "C:\UIGraphics" which does not exist. After investigating, I found out that InstallPath does not exist in registry, but "The Sims" key existed, so it never defaulted the path, this could be fixed.

After manually creating that registry key, Game tried to open LotLocations.iff file in the Simitone\UserData, but it did not exist. Looks like Lot*****.iff files are all not present on japanese copy,
And **Desc.iff in UserData\Homes(there is DTDesc.iff which is not used in Simitone.
NeighborhoodDesc.iff and StreetNames.iff inside UserData was missing as well.
I will give further update when i found where all those things went.

Fatal Error?

I was just going to try the new Simitone with save features but this happened. It's saying it can't find this file from Maxis? Is the .zip file missing it?

Certain objects have a value of 0

Certain objects will have no value in FreeSO, and will not refund any money when sold. This appears to be relating to the "permission" rules of FreeSO objects.

This can easily be seen by joining The Newbies lot and selling the objects that exist in that lot by default (ie the bed).
This can also be seen by using a crafting object (ie the Gargoyle bench from Makin' Magic) and attempting to sell the object generated by it (In this case, the Gargoyle).

Although the interface will show the correct value of the object you will receive 0 from it.

UI Issue about selecting different options

Hello!

I have noticed that when I want to look for different jobs it doesn't matter if I click "look for another job" button, it will always accept the first job option, but when I click "end search" it works fine, it's same issue for example when I want to talk to a sim via the phone. I click "talk" and instead it selects the first option to invite them to the lot, but again if I select "cancel call" button it will work just fine.
It doesn't matter whenever I'm full-screen windowed mode or if I leave the window at the default starting resolution, nor does it matter if I change the rendering API Open-GL/DirectX or any other graphical changes.

Running on Windows 10 Pro 1909, AMD RX 5700 XT GPU & Intel i7-9700k if that's useful info. (also I always run the game as admin privileges)

Sims 1 path in registry is not fixed

Seems youre missing sims 1 path in registry properly, it search instead for TSO, also why to look game into Program Files X86 folder and not any dynamic folder, or better in the active folder.

Please leave the option for 2d Graphics

I don't know if you intend to do this but what am I asking is please can you make that there is 2 options on how you want to play Simitone: 3D Graphics or Classic 2D

Magic Controller not found

Hi I'm getting this error message when I'm trying to use any object from the Magic expansion. I have installed the original complete collection and simitone via the FreeSo Launcher.

Crashing on a visited lot results in lot state being preserved/stuck

After having traveled to a community lot in Old Town, the game crashed a few minutes in. Afterwards returning to the lot resulted in loading the previously visited lot exactly as it was (it was not cleared). Trying to leave the lot resulted in a hard crash.
The lot is now soft locked whenever visited, unable to be reset.

Preservation of community lot with sims on it, not being cleared after a crash. Either when being visited or when editing the community lot through the neighborhood screen.

cannot run the Volcanic.

There is nothing happen when run the Volcanic. However, the Simitone runs normally,So,how can i run Volcanic?Is there a guide?

change language is possibile?

hello everyone, i just created a tutorial where i explain how to use, the sims collection, simitone and freeso, in italian, only that simitone works in english, is it possible to change language? if so how can I do? or if I have to do a translation, can I do it? i have already traded fifa manager 14 and other games, no problem translating, thanks and good work

simitone is not working. what should i do?

since build/buy version say that don't need FreeSO, I don't have FreeSO.

Simitone does not want to start

In Discord they tell me that it is a problem of some custom content, however I have deleted everything from the Downloads and UserObject folder but this window continues to appear every time I try to start Simitone.

I've been looking for a tool to organize custom content for the Sims 1 but apparently it doesn't exist so I have no way of finding out why it keeps crashing.

Implement clothes/pet chooser UI

In Simitone this should use a 3D carousel similar to CAS, but contained within a dialog. This can be the same for pets and sims, though note there might not be enough costumes in certain categories to fill the carousel (eg. you might be able to see repeats on it)

Modifying a lot without saving will still lower the family's Net Worth

Spending money on a lot without saving will still lower the family's Net Worth.

I moved the Newbie family in to an empty lot and began to build a house, spending most of their money. I then quit back to the neighborhood, choosing not to save.
When I was on the Neighborhood screen the lot was occupied by the Newbies but blank (due to me not saving), however the family's Net Worth was the same as when I had spent all the money.

Android build?

I would like to build for android personal use I don't care about distribution. As I have no need for it

Simitone crashed upon startup

OS: Windows 10 Professional (64-bit)
Base: The Sims: Complete Collection

As there is no readme, I attempted to launch Simitone without FreeSO and TSO being installed. Simitone.Windows.exe would crash almost immediately, though a black window would come up.

I then installed FreeSO and TSO and tried running Simitone.Windows.exe again. This time, it got to a splash screen before crashing. I thought that it may have been because of FRAPS (an issue with TS1 on its own), but closing it didn't help. Here's a screenshot (also likely won't help): https://i.imgur.com/Han71nM.png

Any chance for multiple themes of ui

I really love how UI looks but is there possibility to make it look like it was in OG game, in buy mode and build mode because in og Sims it was more compact and upfront, also is there a possibility for different themes, like Simitone theme, Classic theme aka Sims 1 blue style

Simitone Crashes if my system language is not English.

Freeso and Sims works fine on my PC but Simitone crashes and throws the error in the screenshot if my system date and time format is 24h DD.MM.YYYY. I changed my system time format to USA time format from windows time&date settings and Simitone does not crash anymore but it is not a convenient workaround if i have to change my system time format for a single application.

[Request] Sims 1 Install Directory

It would be useful to have Simitone be able to either Select a Directory or Install off of Disc. My Win10 PC will not install Sims but I set up a WinXP VM, and installed Sims and copied it over to Win10, but Simitone cannot see it. Either that or does anyone know a way to make Simitone see the Directory.

Jobs do not show requirements for promotion

In The Sims, when a Sim reaches a job level that required a promotion the requirements for promotion are shown on the Job section of the interface. The number of friends is represented by the "Friends" icon (smiley face) and a number, and the skill requirements is shown by a marker under the skill, representing how much skill is required.

In Simitone, neither of these are shown. In this screenshot, the Sim is at the job level of "Nurse", and to be promoted to "Intern" a total of two friends are required. (The same happens for skills, but I don't have a Sim available so that I can replicate)

Fires can spread OUT_OF_WORLD in some cases.

Reported by @BakaOsaka. Since sims at work are moved to out of world, this causes them to die... at work. While this is a potentially realistic simulation of the fact that workplace accidents can happen, it is not part of The Sims 1. This could also delete controller objects if the creator forgot to set them as fireproof, so it is important to fix.

1.0 Roadmap

If we can get Simitone to a good stage, I'll feel comfortable making an "official" release and writing a ton about it on the blog. There's quite a way to go for the game to be this complete, but it's pretty close to completion and the goal is in sight.

This goes into a lot of detail. It's likely that multiple of these issues could be covered in one day of development, though obviously very far from every day will be spent on development. ;)

This issue is subject to change, it's pretty much a draft right now. There's a lot to think about, so I probably easily missed something.

  • Localisation support? UI strings are very different in TS1, and the ones custom for simitone are hardcoded.

  • Neighbourhood Bootstrap (eg. works without opening ts1 once)

  • Accurate Free Will. Need a better handle on how this works in TS1.

  • 2D 2.0: Less stuttering
    • Object sprite partial vertex buffer update, rather than full regeneration every change.
    • 2D Walls rewrite, likely with same theory as above.
    • Cleaner no-depth implementation from the start? We can make nicer switchable shaders with compiler definitions and imports.
  • 3D 2.0: Additional graphics features for remeshes.
    • Import normals from .OBJ.
    • Cube map and specular tools.
    • Investigate options for normal maps and specular maps (with texture compression)
    • New volcanic tools
      • Layer management. Reorder layers within a 3d drawgroup, cull mode, lighting parameters.
      • Mesh Replacements -> .far archive with texture compression. (DXT, ETC, PVRTC) Good for hitting low spec systems.

  • 3D Neighbourhoods (via replacement model. game can already export a base model for ngbh that creators can line up properties with)

  • Lighting redux
    • Shadow mapped outdoor light with cascades. Will allow for object self shadow outdoors, sharp shadows near camera, direct outdoors lighting decoupled from light sources.
    • Smarter localized repainting for lights. When an object moves, only redraw near it. When a light appears/disappears, only redraw within its range.
    • Make lights cast from midpoint of their bounding box, rather than always the ceiling. (we have estimated bounds in 2d now as well)
    • Remove room limit for lights in ultra lighting mode. Lights will shine directly through windows, casting shadows with the window shape. Old light bleed will be made very slight so it appears like "bounce lighting".

Simitone crashes at UHD resolutions

Simitone will crash at greater resolutions than 1920x1080, particularly (in my case) 3840x2160.
The crash is not immediate, instead occurring when CaS or a lot is loaded. The following error appears:

Hello! I would like to try and contribute to this project.!

Currently, I'm unable to get the thing to build, and I don't know if it's just me and my settings or if the FreeSO submodule has changed too much since the last Simitone update (if that's the case, I'd definitely love to get it working again)

Every time I build Simitone.Windows (which, granted, I'm not sure is where I'm supposed to be building from) I get errors regarding the Microsoft.Xna.Framework classes (usually beginning as a higher level 'The type or namespace name 'Xna' does not exist in the namespace 'Microsoft'' error message, and then also occurring on any types, functions, or classes from there) as well as a few references to a /TS1Scripts folder that doesn't seem to be anywhere in the project. I had a bit of a google, but the majority of the
