Tight

This is no longer maintained. Slack updates broke it and I'm lucky enough to not use Slack anymore.

Tight is a browser extension that simplifies the Slack interface, making it easier to focus.

Like many people, I am forced to use Slack on a daily basis. I noticed a lot of opportunities for simple improvements in the interface, so I have implemented them here.

The first goal of open sourcing this and publishing the extension is so that others can also enjoy these improvements and contribute to further improvements. Both Refined GitHub and Refined Twitter are currently doing a great job of this.

The second goal is that Slack will notice and implement some of these much needed improvements to their product. If you like any of these changes, please let Slack know!

How do I create a new chat in Slack?

With tight, I love the readability and overall improved UI. However, I can't seem to find a way to create a new chat with an employee or create a group chat (since the section for new chat seems to be removed). How do I do this?

Publish to userstyles.org?

I already use stylus https://add0n.com/stylus.html to override CSS in websites. Maybe you could publish the css here to userstyles.org so we don't have to have a separate plugin for slack.

Dark Theme

Summary

Is there an ability to create a dark theme for this extension please? I am on slack most nights and this would make it a lot easier on the eyes :)

Starred channels

Summary

Can you please look into adding the ability to star channels? If you have setup your sidebar to only show unreads/starred channels it's a nice feature to tag and untag starred channels based on whether you are on call or not for the week as an example.

Make design responsive

Slack + Tight is currently very broken at smaller widths. It would be great if it weren't.

Publish as Firefox Extension

Pretty great idea, and very much welcomed for Slack distracting UI!

Would be nice to have it also available in Firefox, of course!

Medium-style fonts over monospace

I'm a developer, so I love me some monospaced fonts, but I think this might be even better if you used Medium for typographic inspiration.

Or at least allow the user to toggle between monospace and a serif font.

Explore Larger Body Type

First, I want to say that I love what you are doing. This plugin is really solid and needed. Here are some quick feedback items:

Since the interface has been reduced and streamlined for easier reading, I would up the body font size
In the monospaced font stack, consider adding "SFMono-Regular" at the front of the stack for macOS users that have it installed (I've found that SF Mono is really an insanely great and readable monospaced font and it's a shame not to take advantage--GitHub does!)

Opening sidebar makes messages unreadable

When you open the sidebar, it is rendered inside of the messages channel, which makes it extremely hard to read your messages. Maybe it could be opened on the right hand side of the messages column?
