hubot-graphme's Issues

Adding GitHub-style @ saved charts

I've seen several Hubbers mention the ability to use /graph me to pull saved charts using the @ syntax. (e.g., graph me -1h @collectd.load(fs1)). This is super handy for people who don't know (or can't remember) Graphite functions or deeply nested metric names.

Do you think it's feasible to add support for this @ syntax to hubot-graphme? It's true that anyone who wanted to use this syntax would also need to have an application to process requests for those charts and convert them to Graphite queries, and that no open source version of the Graph Store currently exists, but putting these requests into a standard format would be one step in the right direction.

Make ready for general use

My running task list for "genpop":

  • fix: one too many configuration comment lines
  • fix /false/ folder bug
  • stub S3 uploading during most tests
  • make the S3 test do something at least mildly useful
  • make README.md more useful
  • make travis build happy
  • clean up some mocha config duplication
  • add more node version tests on travis
  • clean up test_helper duplication
  • do timestamping of images in folder name
  • ensure s3 download path is built correctly
  • better error handling for download and upload
  • push up new version to npm

"Nice to have"s

  • can we make the name of the uploaded file be more readable?
    • store room name
    • store requestor name
    • store something about the graph name
    • still keep a random component
  • can we get the uploaded S3 URL from res instead of building it?
  • how do we get legends on these graphs? (or is this a problem local to my installation?)
  • feature could also specify size: /graph me 500x500 -1h..-1min vmpooler.running.*
  • pretty sure github's /graph me allowed setting additional arguments (&template=foo, &linemode=xxxx)
