Welcome to my personal dotfile collection. The master branch is my defautl, and each additional branch is a new theme/use.
These dotfiles are managed by GNU Stow. To use stow in this manner, create a dotfiles
directory, create a folder for each item to be stowed, then inside each directory, create a mirror directory with a path either relative to home, or absolute from root. For example, my kitty
config lives in ~/.config/kitty
by default, so its stow directory is ~/dotfiles/kitty/.config/kitty/<config files here like normal>/
.
As of stow v2.3.1, there is a bug preventing the --dotfiles
flag to work. If you are using stow >=v2.4.0, it should be safe to, in the example above, use ~/dotfiles/kitty/dot-config/kitty/<files here>/
. If you are not on or above said version, perform a regular stow <dir>
for files inside a hidden folder, and a stow --dotfiles <file>
for hidden files. For example, ~/.zshrc
can be saved as ~/zshrc/zshrc/dot-zshrc
. Running stow --dotfiles zshrc
will place it at ~/.zshrc
as expected.
