How to write a post

To create a post,

  • You will need to create a folder with the post name and post date, e.g. 2022-01-01-title-of-post. In the folder, create an index file, index.md. This is the link to the template here. This is the template of an index file. Make sure to use the metadata correctly.

  • If you want to add a featured image at the top, you have to place the image in the folder, and it needs to be a PNG. The optimal size of the image is 720 ( width ) x 250 px ( height ).

rcodi-blog's Issues

Projects: Cleaning up individual pages

Clean and revise content to make sure it reflects current RCODI status on projects. If it's still current, feel free to revise and reflect the current status of the project.

[Forum post] Vineet introduction

We need to highlight Vineet on the RCODI blog. The purpose is to give a general introduction of him!

  • Write about what Vineet is currently researching
  • Highlight Vineet's aspirations and interests!

Update Corporate Partners and Sponsors

problem

We miss partners that should be on the page:

  • Management Performance Hub
  • Department of Workforce Development
  • National Science Foundation
  • NIH

Name of page!

We should rename the page into "Partners & Sponsors"?

NEW PROJECT: OSS-SCM [Follow-up 2-25]

Topic - OSS-SCM
Contact - Vineet
To be done - A project description encompassing what is being worked on and how it's going! Currently awaiting a write-up from Vineet.
Follow-up Thursday 2/3

PROJECT UPDATE: IronHacks

Topic - IronHacks
Contact - Elizabeth @ERThompson765
To be done - CHECK Project description, note new competition, essentially determine if there are any new things or subjects
that should be added to the website to reflect IronHacks developments @ERThompson765

PROJECTLIST

This is a list of projects to be written/edited on the website. It is a live list.
Topic - Contact - To be done

  • OSS-SCM - Vineet - Project description, how it's going, what's to come from it
  • IronHacks - Elizabeth - CHECK Project description, note new competition, what's to come from it
  • RAPID - Bryan - Project description, how it's going, what's to come from it

Post on Best Paper Award

General overview of the paper published that received the Best Paper award. Brief excerpt on what the project is and the direction it's headed

"Get Involved"

The Get Involved section can be improved to highlight what the center is looking for in terms of partnership and potential team members. Create a page highlighting the specifics of what need to be done by:

  1. Including on the page the open projects looking for help
  2. The type of help these projects need

I was thinking this would be done in a job-board style. Opinions on how it comes along would be appreciated!

Update projects page view

Update the projects page view to make the page more appealing -- mimic how IH competitions page displays images

Sliders!

#1: Currently the slides have images that are centered; on large screens that cuts off the face of people etc.
#2: Solution proposed by Matt: anchor on top

Adding team members

Step ONE: Add fellows

  1. Create a second section in our people called "Fellows" = each needs to folder with a markdown in authors!
  2. List of fellows:
Satyam, Matt, Jia, Mai, Elizabeth, Bryan, Harshan, Iryna, Shatayu
  3. Copy the folder from sabine; Folder name: lower case
  4. adjust the .md - you change the user group to Research Fellows, and ## for the twitter and linkedin.
  5. Add the sentence/statement about them under undernath ---
  6. Add the avatar.jpg (rename the image from the original page as avatar.jpg)

Step TWO: alumni

See above

Pull our projects from posts

  1. pull out projects from posts and move to projects: Note all posts that are NOT labelled as news are projects. it should be about 20 I think
  2. Clean up the ironhacks project page first as this is the one we want to link to
  3. Unpublish posts that are older than 1 or 2 years?

Move some members to "Alumni"

Three team members need to be moved to Alumni: Marlenn, Feny, and Mai. Make sure that their bio reflects their affiliation with the research center.

Home page issues

Went ahead and made some edits today. Here are my two cents on what we should do next

  1. Determine if possible/how to rearrange nav bar order to match with layout of page
  2. Move tags to top, side column, or remove
  3. Columns for posts + publications ?
  4. Center img no.3 on slider
  5. Determine if possible to lower slider text
  6. Determine whether or not it's ideal to change contact form to have only contact info -- remove map, fill-out form.
  7. Tabs for people section ?

publications - question

@charrismatic

The issue

Currently we have one publication section - in there we have all the content that is structured according to APA and standard grouping and it also contains working papers! I think we should move out "media" and "other products" which is basically 1) news we are we featured in the press and also linkt our github pages.

question - idea

Shouldn't all the in the media put into "news" or should we just create a new section called "in the news"? For the github products we should have a separate page? let's discuss this.

[Projects] Fix Open Stack Post

The Open Stack project page could use refining. Please update it accordingly with relevant and current information, being:

Adding publications with .bib - how to?

adding publications

What is the problem
I tried to add a publication via netlify but I did not figure out how to add the .bib format? Can you share the documentation for that?
I also added the references.bib file to the repo - if that could be used to display references that would be good!
** Request for advice**
@charrismatic Matt can you figure out how to do this?

Posts: Topics & Ideas

Write posts about:
- Upcoming Hack
- New Publications (2)
- HS + IH Project
- Anything new or interesting that the group has general interest in and approves of

Collaborator Blurb revisions, Images - Decision

The "Our People" -> external.md/collaborators section has been updated to fit the same format. Minor adjustments can and should be made to the blurbs written for the external members -- I have no problem covering this. I don't have the bandwidth to bring in images for collaborators though. We should determine whether or not we'd like to - I am not sure the amount of effort it will take/if we need to move the collaborators to their own pages to mimic the authors folder.
