covid-tracer's Issues

Global statistics?

Hi Raphaël!

It would be nice to get very aggregated statistics to be sure this is actually useful. Eg how much people/installation in Wallonia? Is it only installed by the few geeks there?

Tom

Spanish translation of Localization.resx

First things first, thanks for providing an alternative to the proprietary not privacy friendly apps that are being developed in this time of crisis. Hope that you're safe and stay like that until the situation returns somewhat to normality. Best of luck!
Also, I didn't see any recommended way of giving you the translated file so I hope this issue is ok with you.

Add button to change language

Many people have English as their phone language because the OS translation might be poor quality or they are used to English.

Maybe use GPS / Network Location / Cell provider for country-detection?

Better battery optimization avoidance.

Add a warning about battery optimization.

Keep the app open while out and about' will work, since disabling battery optimization is hard, don't require it.

image

^ An example of the notification UI.

It is possible to check whether the battery optimization is on or not.

The app would also be harder to close, when there is a persistent notification.

I can currently recall, that syncthing-android has both the notification and battery optimization detection, phonetrack has only the persistent notification.

Clicking on the notice would bring you to https://dontkillmyapp.com/apidoc (link to documentation, link differs for each vendor).

Add build / developer instructions

I don't know much about mobile apps nor c#.
I tried for an hour, gradle failed with Task 'assemble' not found in root project 'covid-tracer'., omnisharp (vscode c# extension, attempted to get something out of the sln file) had many issues regarding dependencies in the extension's itself. Some issues I resolved, some I didn't.

Please add instructions on how to get from cloning the repo to an unsigned apk.

Allow testing

For the sakeness of trusting the app, it would be interesting to allow testing. Eg opt-in detection of neighboring smartphones with the app.
