office365webdesktop's Issues

MS Teams not running

I can't seem to be able to run Teams within Office365WebDesktop. A window opens, but it's endlessly stuck on "Microsoft Teams - Initializing...".

Teams Support

Hey,

since it was announced that Teams for Linux will be discontinued with the end of this year, what would be needed to add teams support for this snap?

Do you have plans to work on an update?

Do you need help?

Regards,
Bernd

Individual launchers for Word/Excel/Powerpoint,...

Hello,

I was wondering if it would be technically feasible to launch individual apps (Excel, Word,...) directly rather than going through Office first and launching them in separate windows?

If so, would it be possible to create additional .desktop files for each app, in particular Word/Excel/Powerpoint so they can be added as shortcut to a taskbar?

cant login anymore on Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS (focal)

installed form the Ubuntu Software app... worked fine I even logged in and tried stuff .. so far all good then I logged out and tried logging in again and got this message on the sign in screen "You can't sign in here with a personal account. Use your work or school account instead." How do I get back in ...? Now if I try logging in form the web browser .. like I used to .. its working fine ..no issues.. so what happened to this app after the first login?

Hide top bar

Hello,

Great work on this tool integrating Office365! I was wondering if it would be possible to have an option to hide the File/Edit/View bar at the top to make it look even better integrated.
image

Most of these should be needed on a regular basis so it would be great if they could be integrated as a hamburger menu like in gnome-terminal:
image
or even something like this like in chrome (whichever is easiest):

Update - Third option: I see from this post that there seem to be options in electron to do this and show the bar by pressing Alt which seems like a great solution https://stackoverflow.com/questions/39091964/remove-menubar-from-electron-app

This way it would go from this:

to this mock-up which looks a bit more compact/modern:

This browser is not supported

After login an error message is shown:
"Unsupported browser
Office Online uses new browser technology and works best in the latest browsers"

So it is not possible any longer to use this web wrapper unfortunately.

Portable mode does not work properly.

I have used the application from a USB drive but the data is stored on the host PC.

I'm not a programmer, but a file should be included that forces the application to save the data in the same directory where the executable is located.

For the rest, everything is fine and works wonderfully (although at first it is a bit confusing, because there is no navigation system in the original design of the web to go between the pages).

missing fonts in print/save handler

Hi,

Not sure if this is an issue with the snap, or with missing dependencies, but when I try to print or download a document, I get this screen :

image

I've looked around but couldn't find information on required dependencies that might be missing.

I run :

  • kubuntu 23.10
  • snap: chromium 121.0.6167.160 2749 latest/stable canonical
  • snap : office365webdesktop 0.7.2 5 latest/beta rafgui012

wen dark mode?

isn't it obvious that every app built for linux should have dark mode as one of its core features

Dictation is not working

When trying to use the dictation tool in Word, the program pops up a disclaimer:

Schermata da 2024-01-12 11-37-11

Is there any possibility to allow dictation?

(to be clear: no app is using the microphone when I launch MSO)

Creating Documents not possible

The title basically says it all. Every method I've tried to create a new document - whether Word, Excel, or PowerPoint - fails with the following error message. The used account is an Office 365 Business Standard account, if that matters. When using a browser, this problem does not occur and it seems like everything else in the app works fine.

image

The text is saying:

New documents cannot be created.
We cannot create a new document at the moment. Please try again later.
If this problem persists, you can try to create a new document from OneDrive.

Not opening in primary display

I have two displays, the built-in display of my laptop and an external one. The external monitor is set to the primary display, however, when opening the app it will always open in the built-in display. As well as this, opening files while the window is in the primary display will open a window in the built-in display.

I think the expected behaviour would be for the app to open in the primary display and for subsequent windows to open in the same display as the main window.

Can't open more than one same file type at the same time

I want to open two excel spreadsheets but only one window can be open at any moment, so I can't work with both at the same time. The expected behavior would be to open a new window for every distinct archive, isn't it? I got around this by working from Firefox but still.. I would be nice if it worked.
