PyTweet is a synchronous Python API wrapper for the Twitter API. It is filled with rich features and is very easy to use.

Installation

Windows

py -m pip install PyTweet

Linux/MacOS

python3 -m pip install PyTweet

Usage

Before using PyTweet you have to setup an application here. For a more comfortable experience, you can create an application inside a project. Most endpoints require the client to have read, write and direct_messages app permissions and elevated access type. For more accessibility you can create a dev environment to support events and other premium endpoints. If you have any questions, please open an issue or ask in the official PyTweet Discord.

import pytweet

client = pytweet.Client(
    "Your Bearer Token Here!!!",
    consumer_key="Your consumer key here",
    consumer_secret="Your consumer secret here",
    access_token="Your access token here",
    access_token_secret="Your access token secret here",
) #Before using PyTweet, make sure to create an application in https://apps.twitter.com.

client.tweet("Hello world, Hello twitter!") #This requires read & write app permissions also elevated access type.

You can check in the examples directory for more example code.

pytweet's Issues

Cannot use in production

  • Currently this can not be used in production because of using methods like requests.post

  • requests.Session should be used in a production environment rather than requests.get requests.delete etc

FYI, im talking about this code below

image

Add bookmarks endpoints

Twitter api released the new bookmarks endpoints, exactly 3 endpoints and 2 new scopes: bookmarks.read and bookmarks.write

  • Implements the GET endpoint.
  • Implements the POST endpoint.
  • Implements the DELETE endpoint.
  • Add the new scopes.

Issue in auth.py

Can only use generate_request_tokens once, might as well use self.http_client.request rather then fetch_request_tokens

Why

from what i know, the HTTPClient class isnt supposed to be used by users. Why does it have docstrings and documented here

New metrics!

Refactor metrics.py

  • Add new promoted_metrics in Tweet
  • add view_count in video
  • Add new organic_metrics in Tweet and Media
  • Add new non_public_metrics in Tweet and Media
  • Add new promoted_metrics in Tweet and Media

Get ratelimit easily

Alot of requests have bad implementation that can cause ratelimit! Also improve errors class.
