check version YouTube, it is old

Hi
Have 2 bugs
1.i can play like 2 songs/videos(its doesnt matter)
and after that,i stuck on play button on the screen and cant play the song/video..
I think that i need close youtube and after that i open it again,its work-again for 2 songs and stuck after that,even i touch another video ,the play button stuck on the screen...

I cant see on the status bar the play,stop,forwad ,you know all the button that show usually,i see gray background and doesnt see the butoons,even i touch when they need to be,anything works.. So that mean they do not work and arent displayed, this means that the technical and programmatic problems and not beacuse gray background display problem simply hides the same buttons ...
I will more than happy if can fix it and wait for comment.. Tnx

Downgrade youtube to this version for now until dev fixes the newer versions.
Uninstall youtube then install this and reboot!

Background of the lock screen is set according to the video playing. However this stays even after closing YouTube. Desired behavior would be to reset the background once the YouTube app is closed.

The latest YouTube update broke this great module. The app updated to version 10.11.55 on March 27th. I tried updating to the newest version of this module (1.3.7 at the time of this thread) but the notification doesn't even appear when selecting a video as it did before the YouTube update.

I'm on a rooted HTC One M8 with android version 4.4.4 Kit Kat!

Hi, i use your module on my tablet, but i found a problem recently. Whenever i start a video and press the chromecast button, the video appear on my TV just like it's suposed to be, but on my tablet, instead on having the back, pause ans next buttons, the loading circle keep going and keep going until it say "playing your video on [name of my chromecast] is taking an unusually long time" with a button "play here" to play the video on the tablet instead of the TV. But the video is casting well! Also, the progress bar is stuck to 0:00 and don't move, i can by the way move on the video by clicking randomly on the progress bar and it work, for exemple i click at 4:00 on the progress bar on my tablet, the video go at 4:00 on my TV and play just normal, but it keep stuck at 4:00 on the progress bar on my Tab and the loading circle keep going and keep going, then it say again "playing your video on [name of my chromecast] is taking an unusually long time", but it is working ! Sorry for my bad english, i hope you will understand my problem. Thanks, great module by the way.

This module is great, you update to a new version of support for Youtube 10.10.52?

New yt version is out. Not compatibile with latest version of module.
Btw today i have received an update for the other module, youtube adaway by wanam. In the descripton there is an info that he has implemented some "brute force" method so now all past and future versions of yt should work with the module. Maybe you can implement something like that too?

Hi,

I'm running YouTubeBackgroundPlayback 1.1.2 along with YouTube 10.08.52. The screen off playback works, but the home button playback does not. When I press the home button, YouTube just stops playing, like you'd expect without YouTubeBackgroundPlayback.

Am I doing something wrong here?

I have official Android 5.0 on Samsung Galaxy S 5.

Using Samsung compatible Xposed Alpha this app barely works with Themer. There IS background playback and after a small break from minimising the app, it does start playing. However the launcher I use (Themer) crashes when Youtube is minimised and all I am left with is a black screen. I have to lock the device, and unlock it, as well as close all background apps for Themer to try to start up again.

Please make it compatible with Themer. Maybe it works with TouchWiz or something but I refuse to use that. As far as I am concerned this module doesn't work well enough to warrant using it because one way or another if I want to watch Youtube that is all I can do. If I minimise it, I can still hear the music but I can't use my phone normally.

I have a Samsug galaxy S3 with Cyanogenmod 11 and the proper version of YouTube installed same fore the background payback app but nothing works.

PS: It worked before for three to four updates.

For some reason, it now only plays one song of a playlist and then stops, is the auto play next song of YouTube not working with the adaway extension?

Works perfectly on S5 running CM12.

However,
There's this needed tweak because:

The background play notification doesn't show when I press the home button and go to home. The notification shows when I enter YouTube again after pressing the home button.

Will it be possible to show it immediately when the video starts or to show when pressing the home button immediately? And thanks!

With screen off it works, however it uses a lot of cpu when opening youtube app, reloads video previews, notification bar stutters when opening from there.

Thanks for this amazing module firstly.

Sadly, I am not able to use the screen ofd playback because of AcDisplay. Maybe, there's some sort of conflict that makes screen off playback stops if AcDisplay is running.

The other thing is that Background playback doesn't work at all for me: I don't even get a notification.

I'm running Android 4.4.2 using Galaxy S5 (SM-G900F)

If there's anything I can provide to help fix the issue please let me know. This is one of the most interesting modules ever.

Unable to download any versions and getting error 404.

I tried both supported versions, 10.03.5 and 10.04.5 but none of them work.

Yt started playing song, I turned screen off and playback immediately stopped. After I turn screen back on, playing window displays "There was a problem while playing. Touch to retry" message.

No notification in drawer, anything. Module properly enabled in Xposed Installer.

Any method to make playback smoother when leaving and entering YouTube? I disabled this module and signed up for a trial of YouTube Music Key because the latest version of YouTube was not supported at the time. After trying YouTube Music Key; playback is really smooth, hardly notice any lag unlike this module. Probably because it has to go through a few different things before background playback resumes. But I still prefer this module since it plays all videos from YouTube. Great work.

I'm not entirely sure what's causing it, but background playback does work, only if I turn off the screen while running the YouTube app. If I switch from the app, the video pauses, and getting it to start from the notification shade doesn't seem to work. The video will resume once I pull up the app again though.

I just upgraded from my stock rom just the other day, which was 4.2.2, and it worked properly on that, so I'm wondering if it's the OS change that's causing issues, or if it's the ROM itself. If you want, I can grab a logcat while running a video for you if there's any important output that you can make use of.

First off, love this module! But just had one request: is it possible to make the notification dismissable by swiping (maybe only when the video is paused or something). Is kinda annoying that the notification only disappears (in my case) when the youtube app is closed.

Nexus 5 user here, running Frank v.13 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/development/l-android-lpv-dev-n5-enhanced-t2856934) on franco kernel r.71.
Both the background and screen off playback work great for me.
Wanted to thank you and make some suggestions.
First of all, there's this small pause (delay) like 5 seconds or so between the moment i press home button and the moment the audio starts playing again. It would be great if the transmission from fore to background was smoother.
Second, can't seem to play playlists. What i mean is, after the first song is done playing and the screen is off, the second one doesn't start automatically, only by pressing the next button.
Anyways, great module and thanks for your awesome effort!

Just slapped android L on my HTC one and snagged this module. Mad props works mint. Just one small issue/question. When I leave YouTube to another application and this module takes over there is a three to four second pause. I know lots of users are having real issues but this is the ONLY issue I can find. keep up the great work look forward to seeing progress in the future.

First, I want to say thanks for the great module. I like the feature and it works great, and I don't mind that there is a small delay when starting playback, as it seems others have issue with. Thanks for the great work!

Now, for my suggestion, it would be with the notification. The notification is very much appreciated and very handy, so thanks for that. I would suggest, though, that if a video is playing, tapping the "X" in the upper right of the notification should also stop playback.

With other music app notifications, tapping the "X" stops playback and dismisses the notification. By having it not stop playback but still dismissing the notification, now the notification is gone and the only way to stop playback is to re-enter YouTube, or dismiss it from the overview (task switcher), closing YouTube completely.

If this is something you can implement, I feel it would be a great UX change to the notification. It would also mean I don't keep losing the notification with videos still playing and no simple way to control them. I can't get used to the fact that the "X" doesn't stop playback like media players so I keep losing the notification. I believe this minor change would bring the notification more in line with what a traditional music app's notification would be.

In the alternate, if you are unable or do not wish to implement this change as I have proposed it, could the notification be changed so that it is "ongoing," and therefore cannot be dismissed, until playback has been stopped? At least this will prevent dismissing the notification while playback is still in progress.

It works very well on my HTC One m7 with the screen off, the playback and the button for playlist! Good job.

Not working with the latest V1.3.8 -YT 10.13.54 . notification bar showing ! .when you click on ! mark (there was a problem while playing ,touch to retry ) mo matter what i do, i get the same error .

I installed the latest apk (v1.46) on a Samsung Galaxy S3 (i-9300) running CM11 (Snapshot 11-20141115) with YT (v10.18.55).
However after the installation, I do neither see any selectable icon of the app, nor did the behavior of YT change at all and the app itself is visible in Apps.Downloaded but not listed as "active".

Sorry for maybe asking a silly question but what else is required to start the "app" properly up? Am I supposed to start YT via the icon of the app or is all the magic done (automatically) in the background?

Anyway thanks for the great work that you guys have been doing - obviously the app is running fine on other devices (...with maybe smarter users).

The module is compatible with Lollipop?

It loads up fine in youtube but returning to the homescreen caues it to pause. When I pull down the notification bar and hit play nothing happens.

Thank you for this great module ;) I have Galaxy Note 2 (android 4.4.2) + Youtube app 10.09.56 + Your module 1.3.2.

When I want to listen in background music stop on half track every song is like that

when I have this module enabled, the YouTube app gets stuck for literally a few seconds whenever I switch to it. the video is stuck and the UI does not respond at all, for example scrolling through the comments is impossible. the audio does play though, even while the rest of the app is stuck.

Latest version is not working in 4.4.4 OnePlus. If I put the youtube in the background then it paused!

I'm running CM12 on my M8, and thus I've gone through a lot of themes, trying to get that perfect look. However, throughout all of the themes I've tried, I've noticed that the Youtube notification always stays the same dull grey colour, while everything else gets automatically themed (including persistent notifications, like PowerAmp).

Is this an issue with Youtube itself (as I heard you can...apparently have background playback with Google Play Music All Access?) or with the module?

In any case, is there a reason it doesn't get changed to the applied theme, like all other notifications? It being the only grey notification is a bit of an eyesore.
