##Install Splunk on Ubuntu Linux using DEB file

#Switch to root user
sudo su -

#Install wget
apt install wget

#Wget command to download Splunk
wget -O splunk-8.1.0-f57c09e87251-linux-2.6-amd64.deb 'https://www.splunk.com/bin/splunk/DownloadActivityServlet?architecture=x86_64&platform=linux&version=8.1.0&product=splunk&filename=splunk-8.1.0-f57c09e87251-linux-2.6-amd64.deb&wget=true'

#Command to install Splunk
dpkg -i splunk_package_name.deb

#Start Splunk and accept license
/opt/splunk/bin/splunk start --accept-license

#Stop Splunk
/opt/splunk/bin/splunk stop

#Command to enable Splunk at boot and to run as splunk user (non-root)
/opt/splunk/bin/splunk enable boot-start -user splunk

#Change the owner of splunk directory and sub files/folders to splunk.
chown -R splunk:splunk /opt/splunk

#Start Splunk
/opt/splunk/bin/splunk start

#Open web browser and put the below link in the address bar to access the Splunk WebUI
