Starting many downloads at once sometimes causes some of them to drop but its 
not handled properly.

In 19.0a1, some interfaces have changed. I have no clue whatsoever how to 
handle this in a way that works on earlier versions. It seems like you can pass 
bonus arguments without anything throwing up.

downloadManager.addDownload has gained an additional 'private' boolean 
argument, indicating whether the download should be treated as sensitive or not.

I made it false.

persist.saveURI has gained a nsILoadContext argument, for separating regular 
windows from Private Browsing windows.

I made it null. A more proper thing to do would be to query the window for its 
privacyContext:
