Sometimes, somehow downloads may even lead to subtly corrupted downloads. Any of the hashes would give a better way to verify download completion, i.e., uncover corrupted ones.

Just create the hash after the app is built and publish it alongside the main product(s) on the GitHub release page.

For example, the appropriate checksum files for the manjaro-xfce-0.8.1-x86_64.iso file (64 bit Manjaro release 0.8.1 with the XFCE desktop) would be:
manjaro-xfce-0.8.1-x86_64-sha1.sum, and/or
manjaro-xfce-0.8.1-x86_64-sha256.sum

This would also help in case of users using scripts. Or in cases of unreliable network/connections.

Unfortunately the portapps installer for WhatsApp under Windows 10 gave me the following warning and stopped running :/

The appended screenshot is in German, the warning means:
„Your computer was protected by Windows.
Windows Defender SmartScreen prohibited the start of an unknown app. The execution of this app may be a risk for the PC.“

I‘ve managed to run WhatsApp now through the 7z archive, so I think something has to be adjusted in the installer to be run on the current Windows 10 version.

Having a portable app, a local application, to read gmail would be useful under certain environments.
One of the most interesting characteristics that the application should have is to allow simulteneous isolated email accounts...

As example, the closest idea I found is wundermail. https://wundermail.app/pricing/
This is closed source, propietary, fremium, only Windows.

I found several potential candidates/approaches, but the number of them seems vast; some are just examples as contraints made them probably not usable for this purpose.

This looks like an awesome software package, but, how can I trust the binaries and support files for Skype.exe, Slack.exe, etc? Where do you source them from? (And out of curiosity, do you have the rights to do so?)

Also, how does this work, in general? What mechanisms do you use to fake having registry keys installed and such?

Hi, it is possible to add support for INI files. Some apps (e.g. browsers) have command line switches.
Using shortcut or 3rd-party launcher is sometimes not a preferable solution.

The INI file could have structure:

[NameOfApp]
EnableCommandLineSwitches=true
CommandLineSwitches=some switches

and maybe some other options for portapps wrapper .

Does .61 portable incorporate an update facility? (not of brave-core but of the portable)

Basically we want a Portable LaTeX Enviornment in Windows based on MiKTeX, TeXStudio and TeXMaker.
I will describe each according to the format.

MiKTeX

For lack of a better central issue reporting area, I am posting this here.

As reported before with Windows Defender by another person here, PortApps continue to be flagged as a Trojan (the other person reported only Skype Portable).

Since into last year both Windows Defender and BitDefender have continually flagged the 4 Portable Apps from PortApps.io that I use as a Trojan through use of heuristic detection.

I have attempted to notify both several times and submitted what they asked for, however, 8 months now and they continue to be a royal pain in the ass!

Skype/Discord/Boarderless/Slack

I have reported this for other software, but typically until the application author makes a report, BitDefender wont do squat, this is my request to ping them upside the head with a rather large spiked club...
