org-rtm's Introduction

org-rtm

A very simple import/export plugin for rememberthemilk (rtm) tasks. The main use-case for the plugin is to quickly get tasks into org mode from my smart phone. I plan to support getting tasks out of org mode into the app, but only in a limited kind of way.

Usage

The plugin reads all your rtm lists and adds headlines for each one of them. Each task in a list gets an org-mode sub-headline.

./img/org-rtm-export.png

Simply add the plugin to your load-path (it’s not on (m)elpa yet), then do M-x org-rtm-import. It will give instructions on how to retrieve the API key. You only have to do that step once.

The plugin will import the data to ~/rtm.org by default (a buffer which is not saved by default, so you can just refile your stuff and kill the buffer; no file is created). Use M-x customize-group for org-rtm to customize the file name.

If org-complete-after-import is t, org-rtm will complete all imported tasks.

Restrictions

Notes, due dates and urls are supported. However, there are:

  • no repeaters
  • no tags
  • no contacts
  • no estimates
  • no location
  • no postponed
  • no priorities

I think most of those could easily be added, but I’m just covering my use-cases at the moment, so drop me a note if you’d like some of those features as well.

Contribution

I’m building upon rtm.el by Friedrich Delgado Friedrichs which is partly built upon org-rtm by Avdi Grimm. Thanks to you guys for laying the foundation!
