When i try to copy this

type: 'custom:xiaomi-vacuum-map-card'
entity: vacuum.xiaomi_vacuum_cleaner
camera_calibration: true
map_camera: camera.xiaomi_cloud_map_extractor
debug: false

to a new custom card it says: Custom element doesn't exist: xiaomi-vacuum-map-card.

Did you install the xiaomi-vacuum-map-card? It is available in the Community Store (HACS). You need this integration and that card. Your card configuration looks okay to me.

You should use following URL for resources when you use HACS:

resources:
  - url: /hacsfiles/xiaomi_vacuum_map_card/xiaomi-vacuum-map-card.js
    type: module

I did try both, installing it manually and with the HACS store and get the same error

Thank you i tried that in my /config/ui-lovelace.yaml but get the same error. I always restart after changing configs. What i found in the File editor is that HACS seems to add the components to this folder: /config/www/community/lovelace-xiaomi-vacuum-map-card - so i tried with that exact URL but still its not working.
Does it make a difference that my HASS setup is runnning in a docker environment? Maybe the paths are different then

I'm suspecting you have an auto generated dashboard in lovelace.
You might want to try this:

Delete ui-lovelace.yaml and add the resource in settings -> lovelace dashboards -> resources

Thank you that was it, i tried to paste the code into a new custom card (and even on a custom menu). Now i got everything to work which is great and worth the effort!
