python3.4 build crashes during configure about nixpkgs HOT 4 OPEN

@joelteon I pushed a very large merge to joelteon/master, whose only breakage for me is the failing Python 3.4 build. I decided to push rather than wait longer, since I think the fix is pretty trivial, once we remember what it is.

@jwiegley I don't think I was the one who fixed this before, but the issue (at least superficially) turns out to be setting MACOSX_DEPLOYMENT_TARGET=10.7 in our stdenv. Every other SDK-version I've tried so far seems to work without issue, but the reason is beyond me..

I pushed the patch to jwiegley/next, but I'd suggest leaving this ticket open as a reminder that we need to find a more principled fix :)

I'm getting this on pure-darwin, and really don't want to bump my MACOSX_DEPLOYMENT_TARGET. 10.6 loses us thread-local storage, and 10.8 seems too recent. Seeing if I can understand the root of the issue, but who knows if I'll get anywhere.
