afieldguidetoelephpants's Issues

Add minimum PHP version to composer.json

What version of PHP are you using to build the site? I'd like to add that to the composer.json requirements so future contributors know which features they can/can't use when contributing.

Adds a picture of the first elephpant ever

Here is a picture of L'aieul (the ancestor), the first elephpant ever. He still exists, though it is resting.

Also, the first large elephpant ever bears the name of 'papa' and acted as the father for the first 15000 elephants. Sadly, the mother is not to be found anymore. :(

Red-Laravel needs a name

The name Liona is listed on the Kickstarter site.
((as a side note, I'm creating this issue, after already fixing it, so that I can attached this issue to the PR I'm getting ready to submit.))

Regenerate site

Looks like a few PRs have been accepted without the page being regenerated - set up some sort of CI to do so on merge maybe?

Relicense included source code

The Field Guide is published under the Creative Commons
Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike (BY-NC-SA) license.

When it was created there was nothing in the repository except the content. Now there is additional PHP code for extending Twig and rendering the JSON feed.

Creative Commons specifically recommends against using the BY-NC-SA license on software: https://creativecommons.org/faq/#can-i-apply-a-creative-commons-license-to-software

I'm considering updating the license to leave the content as BY-NC-SA but relicense the source code under the MIT license.

Adding Images of the Large Elephpants

Should we include Images for the large Elephpants?

Public API?

Hey, Im working on a site to allow people across the world to trade elephpants and we would love to use the data you have if possible. Would you consider a public api? I have no problem building it if you are cool with it.

Maybe add information about the never released Apigility one ?

I seem to remember seeing a photo of a prototype on Twitter a few years back (or maybe it was just a drawing).

It was intended for one of the ZendCon conferences. Was a blue elephant with a rocket on its back if I remember correctly.

AFAIK it ended up never getting produced because it was deemed inappropriate as tensions around Israel were flaring up again around the time.

Oracle ElePHPant background

Some trivia about the Oracle elePHPants.

Oracle ordered 500 small "Oracle" elePHPants from Damien Seqguy in December 2018. There was some shipping damage to boxes and 496 arrived at Oracle HQ in a few batches in February and March 2018. These were given out at conferences, notably PHP Quebec and php|tek. Others went to user groups.

At the same time, Damien Seguy created 14 large "Oracle" elePHPants: "They came as a mixup in the order for the small elePHPant version". Oracle bought 7 and I bought 1. These were used as conference prizes.
