Hi!

creating a box as in the examples is not very difficult, even when you need
shadows. Just a matter of using the right \shade and \fill commands.

The tricky part, as you point out, is automatic page breaking of such boxes.
In the example you mention I notices that there are no page breaks, but it
would certainly be nice to have that.

Implementing such automatic breaking would be somewhat tricky, but it's
possible (supertabular does it).

However, all of this is not really part of pgf since this is something built on
top of pgf.

So, I won't really be working on this, but if someone else would be willing to
write a nice "fancyboxes" package, I would also appreciate that...

Best regards,
Till

Thanks for the prompt response. Could you at least provide
with a simple example (with no breaks across pages) of
what's done in beamer in a simple tex file in article style?
I was trying to understand the .sty file from beamer that is
related to the creation of boxed environments, but you may
save me some time if you put what I need in a simple file.
I found the latex package "boites". It teaches a way to
cut the boxed environment across pages. I'll read the code
and I'll try to do a framed box as soon as you may provide
me with a short and simple example of a framed environment
(like in Beamer) using only pgf.
Hope you may find some time to help me on this.
Thanks,
Ruben.
