threadclient's Introduction

Demo:

new features reddit doesn't have

  • "threaded replies" to decrease indentation
  • ability to preview links in comments like RES adds
  • ability to preview comments written in markdown mode before posting them
  • all external links open in a new tab by default so you never have to worry if you should click or ctrl click a link
  • usernames are different colors to make it easier to notice repeat users
  • threadclient preview supports these better than reddit in some ways:
    • imgur albums
    • gfycat gifs
    • twitch clips
  • threadclient displays braille images correctly even if the author of the post formatted them incorrectly (what you see on old.reddit, new.reddit, threadclient)
  • ability to easily view comment markdown (screenshot)

threadclient's Issues

bold and italic text introduce repetition.

When a text contains italic or bold tags, some words around those tags are repeated. I attach a ss of a comment showing this effect using pfg and the rendering on reddit as reference.

[Feature] New chat/message indicator

I've just discovered this. Great client so far, very fast and light. There's one feature I hope you can integrate into it soon. Right now I can't know if there's a new message or chat that sent to me (replies or chat...). I hope there will be an implementation for it, something simple like this in old.reddit.com

[Feature request] Make a (top-level) post

I really like using your viewer to cut out a lot of the reddit clutter. Posting replies is working well but I can't find how to make a new (top-level) post. It would be really nice if that were possible.

[Feature Request] Add a way to get normal reddit link for current subreddit/post

Sometimes I need to share the original reddit link for a few reasons such as its not viable to use because it doesn't show thumbnails, or lack of video player when used in say, Discord, so I have to manually copy & change the URL before I need to send it.
Other frontends like Libreddit for Reddit, Nitter for Reddit have a button on the top usually besides settings where you can get the original link which you can use, which I think is pretty neat.

[Bug] Sorting by Hot shows r/popular feed even when logged in [Reddit, Localhost]

Trying out the client locally, its great. However after logging in, the local host page defaults to popular page which doesn't happen on your hosted website.

Edit:
I was browsing through controversial by hour, then clicked Hot by accident, it seems to be working now somehow.
I don't know what happened.

Another issue:
NSFW thumbnails aren't blurred by default. After clicking "Show" once, they get blurred.

Wasn't sure if I should create another issue, so edited here.
