Virtual Production Documentation

Hi there, this repo aims to support those unfamiliar with the start up process of the Virtual Production suite at the Academy of Interactive Entertainment in Melbourne. This is currently a work in progress and we are in the process of confirming the optimal process and potential errors that may interrupt the start up process. Select the drop down arrow to reveal supporting images or more information.

Activate Devices

1. Power on LED Wall

This plug outlet is on the wall opposite to the computers. Turn on both power switches.

2. Power on Vive Transmitter

Press the button on top of the transmitter.

3. Power on Vive headset

Press the button in the centre of the headset.

4. Power on Vive puck mounted on top of the ARRI Amira

Press the button in the centre of the puck.

4B. Attach puck to mount on top of Arri camera

5. Power on editor and render computers

The 'Editor' computer is the one closest to the LED wall, the 'Render' computer is the other. Both PC's must be powered on and displaying there desktop backgrounds

6. Power on Brompton unit

Flick the switch underneathe the power input cord.

The following steps are performed on the editor computer.

Connect Brompton

1. Open Tessera Remote

2. Select Start Tessera Remote

3. Double click on the Brompton



Connect VIVE

1. Open VIVE wireless #Todo insert Vive menu shot
2. Open SteamVR #Todo insert SteamVR menu shot

If the controllers do not auto pair

    1. Select "I want to pair a different type of controller"

    2. Select HTC Vive Tracker



Launch Unreal Engine

  1. Navigate to Unreal Project I.E: C:\Perforce\Local\AIEVP_Template.uep
  2. Open the Unreal Engine Project File
  3. Select the "Live Link" tab
  4. Confirm the SteamVRTrackTransform item has a green status light.
  5. In the content browser navigate to the Maps folder
  6. Open desired map and wait for the project to load 6A. Unreal server button. 6b. Render Server button.
  7. Select the Switchboard button
  8. Select the Editor plug icon and wait for the project to load
  9. Then select the Render plug icon and wait for the project to load on the Render computer.
  10. Select the Node_0 plug icon
