dotfiles's Issues

Directory Pane

How does one get the directory tree as in the screenshot in the readme?

ZSH prompt running grep too many times

Each call to notes_prompt in set_prompt runs grep (3 times in the current code). This means the same grep runs 3 times every time you start a shell, change dir.

Creating new `mx` sessions from within tmux

I was wondering what your workflow is to create a new session from within tmux. Basically the new-session equivalent of C-s. The reason I'm asking is because if the answer is: "quit tmux and create a new session" I'll be creating a PR to add it (see yoshuawuyts/dotfiles#30).

Thanks for your time (and your dotfiles, har har).

Kill off submodules for vim

Hey,
I just noticed you are still using git submodules for your vim plugins instead of something like https://github.com/gmarik/vundle. With all the headaches and problems around git submodules is there any benefit to using them over something like vundle?

Huge thanks for the goodies and ideas in your dotfiles, they're awesome!

I pulled mx out into its own repo

Hey! Just wanted to let you know --- I really liked the mx project, so I pulled the code out of this repo and plopped it into its own. Here are some of the benefits of this approach:

  • All commits in the repository are for the functionality of the single program.

  • It can be added to package managers. i.e., I can install mx via homebrew with the following:

    brew tap demands/taps
    brew install mx
  • It can come bundled with a custom bash_completions script that provides autocompletions for all the folders in your $PROJECTS directory.

If you would like, I'd be happy to donate this repository to you, since you're the originator of this project. (I am also perfectly happy maintaining it, if you'd prefer.) Either way, I'm giving you commit access to it.

Thanks for the wonderful script!

~Max
