Yep that was the reason! Changing it to pull_request from push solved the problem. Thanks for your time.

Good question! 😄I did some quick tests, but could not reproduce the error.

Could you adapt your workflow configuration by adding

        with:
          args: "--trace"

to the step? This should output the event data and hopefully gives more information on what goes wrong...

One guess I just thought about: Maybe the secrets.MergeBot token does not have enough permission to get information about the PR and so the GH API call fails with "Not found"

Many thanks for that! I gave the token all the permissions and it seems to have solved that error, but now I have a different problem:

Run pascalgn/automerge-action@733fcc62d711705eae9cd66fcf49c93c1d1a98c6
INFO Event name: push
INFO No open PRs for <BRANCH-NAME>

Any ideas?

Yes, I think it's because the automerge-action usually expects to use the pull_request event. The push event is also supported, but only for the usecase "when a push happened on 'master', update all PRs that are based on the master branch".

The "normal" use case, that is "merge the PR when it's done", only happens on the pull_request events
