Automated Testing in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central

This is the code repository for Automated Testing in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, published by Packt.

Efficiently automate test cases in Dynamics NAV and Business Central

What is this book about?

Dynamics 365 Business Central is the new cloud-based SaaS ERP proposition from Microsoft. It’s not as simple as it used to be way back when it was called Navigator, Navision Financials, or Microsoft Business Solutions-Navision. Our development practices are becoming more formal, and with this, the call for test automation is pressing on us.

This book covers the following exciting features:

  • Understand what automated tests are, and when and why to use them
  • Explore the five pillars of the Testability Framework of Business Central
  • Design and write automated tests for Business Central
  • Make use of standard automated tests and their helper libraries
  • Integrate automated tests into your development practice

automated-testing-in-microsoft-dynamics-365-business-central's Issues

BC365 PowerBI integration with Power Automate

When I am viewing a PowerBI report within BC365 SaaS, I have an option to click a Power Automate button within my report to run a flow. In this case, the button is stuck on triggering... When I run the flow within the Microsoft Teams integration of PowerBI, it works as expected.

app.json is not up to date

As off BC15 app.json should provide different info:

  • "test": "14.0.0.0" is no longer possible and should be replaced by dependencies to relevant library and test apps (example)
  • runtime should also be provided

Remove use of with-do

Reminder

We need to update the code to remove all with-do constructs (as this is going to be deprecated) and solve implicit with-do usage.
