Create: Adventures

A Create challenge pack that tries to still feel accessible to inexperienced players.

Design Philosophy

  • Try to keep Vanilla crafting recipes untouched whenever possible
  • Attempt to preserve and improve upon the philosophy of Vanilla Minecraft while keeping it somewhat separate from the technical content
  • Rebalance the Create mod and its addons in a way that heavily encourages automation
  • Encourage storymaking as well as roleplay in the case of multiplayer
  • Improve player expression by adding various social features, skin improvements and building blocks
  • Make the game less cumbersome by adding various QOL features while still keeping the technical difficulty of Create
  • Try to make the modpack fairly accessible by allowing to make all hostile mobs act neutral towards the player
  • Keep the game accessible for non-engineers to encourage multiplayer play where players can help and teach each other, providing newbies a safe and calm space to learn by doing so

Contributing

This repository uses packwiz. It is a fairly simple command-line tool that lets you create modpacks in a git-friendly and simple manner.

These instructions are going to be a heavily simplified version of the packwiz-installer tutorial. If you run into any issues, check the full tutorial first.

  1. Get a more advanced Minecraft Launcher, such as Prism Launcher
  2. Create an instance, doesn't matter what you set the specifics to be. Setting it to Minecraft version 1.19.2 and Quilt version 0.19.1 is highly recommended, though.
  3. Download the packwiz Installer Bootstrap and place it in the instance Minecraft folder.
  4. Go to Edit Instance -> Settings -> Custom commands, then check the Custom Commands box and paste the following command into the pre-launch command field:
"$INST_JAVA" -jar packwiz-installer-bootstrap.jar http://localhost:8080/pack.toml
  1. Navigate into the cloned repository in a terminal, and run packwiz serve

Unify Azalea Flowers

Currently, there are 3 kinds of Azalea flowers.

  • ecologics:azalea_flower
  • immersive_weathering:azalea_flowers
  • twigs:azalea_flowers

These should get unified for less confusion.

Create Mod Rebalance/Game Design thread

As this modpack is supposed to be a challenge pack for experienced create players, a lot of the Create recipes should be replaced with various alternatives that highly advertise automation. This would most likely be split into chapters and would include the creation of various mechanisms. Each chapter would also probably have some sort of a material attached to it. Here is an example:

Chapter 1: The Andesite Age

  • This chapter would entirely rely on andesite and other non-metal materials that could be easily reproduced with primitive technology.
  • The mechanism could be called something like Pulley Mechanism

Chapter 1A: The Copper Age

  • This chapter would entirely revolve around fluid manipulation, which could be especially useful later on.
  • It would allow the player to make Fluid Tanks and Smart Fluid Pipes.
  • The mechanism could be called something like Pressure Mechanism

Chapter 2: The Brass Age

  • Brass would be obtainable via an alloy smeltery to eliminate the need for blaze burners in this stage of the game.
  • It would mostly rely on basic metals, such as copper, zinc and iron.
  • The mechanism could be called something like Kinetic Mechanism

Chapter 2A: The Steam Age

  • This chapter would primarily revolve around the creation and application of steam.
  • This would be the chapter to introduce steam engines and trains.
  • The mechanism could be called something like Steam Mechanism

Chapter 2B: The Silicon Bronze Age

  • Silicon Bronze would be obtainable by combining copper, zinc and quartz. This would still be possible in an alloy smelter.
  • It would allow for a little buff in the amount of machinery available per machine.
  • The mechanism could be called something like Reinforced Mechanism

Chapter 3: The Rose Quartz Age

  • This chapter would primarily depend on copper, redstone, and quartz. It would be the first time you're going to need a blaze burner for alloying, and the rate would be 1 Copper, 4 Redstone and 2 Quartz would make 288mb (2 ingots worth) of Molten Rose Quartz.
  • Molten Rose Quartz would then have to be inserted into Glass Tubes (made of 1 iron sheet and 1 glass) to make electron tubes. A single electron tube would require 72mb (half an ingot) of Rose Quartz inserted into a Glass Tube via a Spout.
  • The mechanism could be called something like Conductive Mechanism

Some more chapters might be appreciated, but we don't want the players to get absurdly overpowered. This is not a modpack about getting absurdly overpowered, so it's still up to consideration if it's a good idea to add Create content beyond this point.

Rename the ropes

There are currently two mods that add rope. Those being:

  • farmersdelight:rope
  • supplementaries:rope

Both of which can be placed, and they both work in very different ways. It would be better to rename the FD rope to Straw Rope and the Supplementaries rope to Flax Rope, with the latter having more crafting recipes, as flax is a more robust material for rope.
