Asking for clarification about this component

Hello everyone,

I would like to know if this component can also work on a newer installation of OpenWRT in place of a more recent version of dnsmasq (currently, I see that the last stable release is 2.86).
For instance, I am trying to install it in OpenWRT 21.02.3.
I saw in one osMUD readme that we have to use this component and rename it using the last version number, but I would like to be sure that this is the correct approach.

I would like to know if it is possible to have a little bit more documentation that describes what are the main changes compared to the original version of dnsmasq (for instance in a README file in this repository). So, I can understand better what I have eventually to replicate in a newer version if the component is not compatible anymore (my apologies if it is already available, I did not find it).
