The described behavior is expected/intentional. Note that the default result of the evaluation of a module is not the module namespace object (i.e. the object holding the exports) but it is the value of the last statement (which is undefined in your case). In other words, you attempt to read enable member on undefined value (which results in the mentioned exception).

You can either set js.esm-eval-returns-exports experimental option to true (to change the result of the evaluation of a module) or you can invoke enable() using a dynamic import:

context.eval("js", "import('mainJSFile').then(module => module.enable())")
