If the connection fails, the client does not automatically reconnect itself - it just waits for a period of time and exits.

Ideally it should reconnect itself and log the disconnection.

I attempted to follow the instructions to get the ppv16 module set up (i.e. run pyxbgen --schema-root=ppv16 --module PPv16 rttiPPTSchema_v16.xsd ) but neither pyxb or Pyxb-x (a successor) work with python 3.10.

You probably want to change

print('Raw XML is:\n' + message)

to

print('Raw XML is:\n' + msg)

I was encountering an issue, similar to that of this user: https://groups.google.com/g/openraildata-talk/c/NBoY1-zycyI/m/-qDV1NMaCAAJ, where I would get an immediate disconnection.

Downgrading to stomp.py<5 seemed to fix the issue.

set the USERNAME, PASSWORD and HOSTNAME variables to the values shown in 'Username', 'Password' and 'Live Feed Topic'

Should read

... to the values shown in 'Username', 'Password' and 'Messaging host'

After running pyxbgen, a bunch of files named _*.py are created in the current directory. These would be cleaner placed in a subdirectory when generated.

As of stomp.py version 5, the connection.start() function has been removed. The use of the function in this code should either be removed, or a compatible major version of the stomp.py version specified.
