housepanel's Introduction

HousePanel (HP) is a user-hosted (typically local) highly customizable open source web application dashboard for accessing and controlling a SmartThings or Hubitat equipped smart home from a Tablet, Computer, or even Smart Phone.

HP is designed to give the user full control over the look and feel of their panel controller. It does require some effort to install and configure, but once set up, making fine tunings and adjustments are relatively simple. Most customizations can be done from within the built-in web-based user interface, which includes a full featured tile editor and a tile customizer for modifying content shown on any tile. Power users can also make major modifications by editing a CSS file using industry standard protocols.

HP runs on a customer-provided web server and does not expose your personal data nor any details about your environment to the developer or any other party. You are in total control. The default settings were designed by a professional web designer to create a highly acceptable user interface for non-technical people. It is designed to not look and feel "geeky". By default the tiles are large and colorful, placed on beautiful full color backgrounds.

Requirements - What You Need to Use HousePanel HousePanel is a web application written in PHP and Javascript that is paired with a SmartThings and/or Hubitat SmartApp written in the Groovy language. To use Housepanel you will need a modern browser with Javascript support. Obviously you will also need a SmartThings and/or Hubitat account with owner access. You will also need to have owner access to a web server of some type capable of hosting PHP applications.

Quick install directions: log into your rPI with SSH and enter:

> cd ~
> wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/kewashi/HousePanel/master/install.sh
> bash ./install.sh
>

housepanel's Issues

Visual tile ideas

From edward_niedziejko on ST forum

Visual requests: button style options - flat, 3d, drop shadow, rounded or square corners or even round buttons

Switches not working

Have just installed House Panel for the first time, Smartthings & rPi, all seems to authorise ok, icons all there and these reflect changes when I turn something on or off but I cannot turn things on or off from House panel itself, cursor changes to a finger when I hover over icon but nothing happens when I click, any ideas where I should be looking to fix this??

After device(s) authorization, I get an error page

I am running on raspeberry pi, and after going to my local installation of housepanel, it takes me to oath smartthings auth page, and after I select all my devices, I get to a cannot load page error:

http://xxx.xx.x.x/housepanel.php?code=QoAMzw

This page isn’t working
192.168.86.57 is currently unable to handle this request.
HTTP ERROR 500

I even changed housepanel directory to 777 just in case if it was permission issue, but that didnt do anything either.

My items not displaying

Hi, installed House panel for the first time on a Rpi3, everything seemed to go fine all the way but when I load up the http://192.168.xx.xx/housepanel/housepanel.php page my things aren't there, the clocks, custom buttons ect are there but none of my things, any ideas what Im doing wrong?, thanks in advance for any help.

Seems to be a problem with HP getting my device info from the Smartthings hub also getting this error -- java.lang.NullPointerException: Cannot invoke method length() on null object @line 334 (extractName) from the IDE logs.

Don't turn tile on/off when dragging stops

Need to capture the mouse up event when it is at the end of a drag. Otherwise it turns my lights on/off and drives my wife nuts.

If we implement the 'menu mode' while in panel view, this would go away (only drag tiles when the menu is open.)

Upgrade TileEdit

Upgrade to use mini colors and to clean up how window pops up. Also update to make it work with most recent updates to master branch.

Unable to change Weather Location

Have tried editing the file forecast.html to have my location, but now I just get a small blank box with no weather details.
I changed your location to
https://forecast7.com/en/53d19n0d47/branston/?unit=uk
and tried
https://forecast7.com/en/53d19n0d47/branston/
with no joy.
I also changed the forecast_accu.html
to
https://www.accuweather.com/en/gb/branston/ln4-1/weather-forecast/716432
but the changes arent reflected, it stays with the out the box configuration somehow

Ideas from Edward

Function requests: edit button location coordinates from settings page, edit icon scaling, thermostat tile color change based on home / away and heat / cool / auto.
Option for dimmer tile brightness to pull from dimmer value.

Install script needed

Need to provide an easy to use installation script in the style of Wordpress installation.
