Advice: I switched back to the default notes app, because...

I fixed the disadvantages of the default notes app and got the advantages of notable by:

  • using a Wacom pen and configuring the button-press with the eraser
  • configuring swiping left and right from the screen edges with flipping the page

I still miss the gesture to undo the last change, but with the default notes app I get:

  • Easy split-screen opening the corresponding note from a book
  • Easy export of all notes
  • Writing in notable lagged in the split screen

Dragging to the left or right in RTL environment moves selection in the opposite direction.

In Notable 0.0.10 on my Boox Note Air 2 device in the Hebrew locale, when I select with the lasso tool and drag, the selection has the following peculiarities:

  • The selection "jumps" to the other side of the window. That is, if I make a selection 20 px from the left side of the window, while selected it appears 20 px from the right side of the window.

  • Moving the selection moves it in the wrong direction. Moving the pen to the left makes the selection move to the right. Moving the pen to the right makes the selection move to the left. Moving the pen up or down works as expected.

  • After dropping, the selection is placed in the location to where it was dragged, not the place where it appears while dragging. That is, if a selection is made and then dragged 20 px to the left, while selected it is shown 20 px to the right. But when ending the selection it "jumps" to the proper position 20 px to the left.

So the problem is only the drawing of the selection, while it is selected.

How do I move quick pages, notebooks, folders?

I like the simplicity of Notable but I do not find instructions explaining how to move a notebook or a quick page elsewhere.

Without this functionality, Notable would appear to be rather limited, unfortunately. Is there a guide telling me where to look?

[Suggestion] Page Layout Config

Hey guys, I have a suggestion:
In page layouts, we can choose among a blank page, a dotted page, etc. But I miss being able to change the distance between lines. The lines are too close to one another (for my writting style). Can we have this feature?

Create shapes on long-hold pen.

The Samsung Note device has a terrific feature for drawing shapes. With the stylus, one can draw e.g. a circle and at the end of the stroke not lift the stylus. The program will then change the hand-drawn circle to a vector that approximates the hand-drawn shape. This works with circles, rectangles, squares, stars, and other shapes.

The ability to convert hand-drawn shapes to vectors if the stylus is not raised would be a terrific addition to Notable.

Package APK as non-debuggable?

I'd like to deploy this APK to a few Enterprise devices with our Google Admin Console, but when I upload the APK it fails with the error "APK is marked as debuggable":

Is there any chance it could also be packaged as non-debuggable in Releases or a way I can do this myself? Thanks :)

side-by-side notes and infinite scroll with with page delimitations

great work on this app, I love it!

coming from the ipad (notability) I think these features would be great if possible to add:

  1. side-by-side notes; have the same (or different) notes open side by side so you can e.g. easily reference earlier bits in the same note (would be great e.g. for math derivations
  2. infinite scroll but with page-delimitations + the ability to export a "long" note as a multi-page pdf; this would make sharing much more collaboration-friendly

Can't install on Boox Note 2 (Android 9)

I'm wondering what the minimum Android version is for the app, because my Boox Note 2 is running 9, and I'm getting "There was a problem parsing the package" from the native installer. My experience with this error is that it's an unsupported OS version.

Set defaut background template from within the notebook.

Currently (0.0.10) the user can change a page's background template from within a notebook, but can not change the default background for new pages. To do so, he must exit the notebook. Please expose the option to change the default background template for new pages (in the notebook).

When doing so, a button to update all extant pages that are currently using the default background (in the notebook) to the new default background would be very, very helpful.

Unable to compile application

Thank you for your work. I would like to help contribute to the project but I'm having difficulty compiling it. I noticed the build for the current onyx boox base sdk https://mvnrepository.com/search?q=onyx&d=com.onyx is no longer loading and I have set to the latest version and and have gradle set to version 5.6.4 and java 1.8 I have been succesful in syncing to gradle but I have still been unable to get it to build. I would appreciate any help especially if you may have encounter this issue or one like it before.

exporting to A4 format

hey, at my university they are only accepting A4 size pages, and the regular boox note taking app don't have this option, if you can add this option it will really help me ^^.

Add an 'Export all' button

It exports all notebooks and quick pages.
Optionally: To increase the speed of export process, check for each notebook: If an exported PDF exists already and its modification date is equal to the modification date of the notebook to export, skip exporting that notebook.

After creating a new notebook: Open the name edit field

This way, one can start typing and naming the new notebook right away.
The default name of the new notebook should be the empty string, so one does not have to delete the current default name ("new notebook") first.
Furthermore, scroll to the bottom of the notebook list, so the new notebook is viewable.

No writing on Boox Note Air 3C?

This app looks wonderful and I would love to try and use it.
It installs fine on my Boox Note Air 3C (V3.5 firmware).
The screen comes up, pens can be selected, tapping works...
but nothing happens when I use the pen i.e. no writing is visible.

Edit Jan. 31, 2024: thanks for the update (to the "next"-release). It works fine now. Also, the tablet reacts much quicker to the pen than in many other apps.

add color?

I think this app is awesome; but I'm missing the option to use colors on my boox tab ultra c;

are there any plans to implement this? any idea how hard this would be?
from a user perspective the most straightforward thing would be to include the colors choices as in the boox notes app

I'd be happy to help out (e.g. figure out the color hex codes or something) but I've no android programming experience unfortunately

Add read me content to the (settings page) app

Just loaded the app onto my Boox note air 3 and looking great. Distraction free note taking (would love to even have the top bar hidden while taking notes) for the win!

I'm not going to remember all the gestures (and when in the future their going to be probably more) I would love a little read me inside the app with in theory the readme from this repo, so that I can reference its functions while inside the app. I usually use my device when there is no internet connection, but even with an internet connection having the functions of the app in the app would be nice.

You could even draw a "this is how the app works" default note and load that by default when you install the app. Then users can keep or delete that page when they see fit.

Display eraser selection when using the hardware eraser

Right now, the stylus' erase does work as expected, but has no visual feedback of the eraser's selection being made.
The quick implementation of the boox SDK (touchHelper) offers callbacks for the physical eraser, that are used in this codebase, but does not implement the drawing feedback for it (it seems - they expect a "live erasing" which is not what I'd like to achieve here)
