Thanks for your code which works well. In order to get my LCD 1602 (a Winstar variant) to work I had to add a potentiometer between gnd and the 5v supply with the sllder output connected to pin 3 on the LCD card. Without it the display just showed solid black rectangles. By adjust the pot the letters became visible. I mounted the pot on the Pico breadboard.
Zecondly I adjusted the code in the temperature.py file to update reading repeatedly using :

lcd = LCD()
lcd.clear()
while True:
    lcd.write_line1( 'Temperature:', 1 )
    lcd.write_line2( "{0:2.1f}".format(get_temperature(10)), 1 )
    utime.sleep(1)

instead of

lcd = LCD()
lcd.clear()
lcd.write_line1( 'Temperature:', 1 )
lcd.write_line2( "{0:2.1f}".format(get_temperature(10)), 1 )
utime.sleep(4)
lcd.clear()

Nice project. Saved me buying a more expensive I2c display.
