What's in this repo?

This repo is a monorepo. It contains the code for the nteract core SDK and nteract's desktop and web applications. It also contains the documentation for the SDK and the applications. Here's a quick guide to the contents of the monorepo.

Folder Description
applications/desktop Source code for the nteract desktop application. The desktop application is a cross-platform app built using Electron.
applications/jupyter-extension Source code the nteract Jupyter extension. This extension can be installed alongside Jupyter classic and JupyterLab in your Jupyter deployments or personal Jupyter server.
packages JavaScript packages that are part of the nteract core SDK.
changelogs Changelogs for each release of the nteract core SDK and applications.

How do I contribute to this repo?

Our documentation is living. We are always making changes and adding more content. If you have feedback about the documentation, please open an issue in this repo. How do I use the nteract desktop application?

To get started with the nteract desktop app, head over to the nteract homepage to download the application for your operating system.

Once you've download the app, head over to our documentation page for tutorials and guides on using the app for your data analysis and science workflows.

Reduce size even further

Much of the internals of plotly are modules that we use in other places (D3 for example). When using this dist version of plotly we lose the benefit of any amount of sharing of those modules. This is why most of our webpacked notebook ends up being Plotly itself.

In many cases, this large size ends up being a showstopper for using plotly: nteract/commuter#168

Release 1.49 and add release instructions

Next release plan:

  • Update RELEASING.md
  • Update to 1.49.1
  • Tag in GitHub the release (github release info lags current release info on npm)
  • Release to npm (TODO after Monday team meeting)

Update cadence

Hi, plotly.py maintainer here. I ended up in this repo after learning that the VSCode Python plugin relies on @nteract/transform-plotly for rendering plotly figures, and that @nteract/transform-plotly gets it's plotly.js version from the project.

I see that there is a bot generated PR to update this repo with the most recent version of plotly.js at #12, but that this update hasn't been applied since December. I was wondering how frequently you aim to merge/publish these plotly.js updates to NPM, and whether this is something that could happen alongside the plotly.js releases themselves. Thanks!

Publishing latest release

Hello!

#16 was merged but not released to NPM, and this is causing some issues with downstream users who are using libraries built on top of Plotly but need a more recent version in their environments...

Could you please release this to NPM? :)
