nodebots.io's Issues

License

Hi Folks,

I would like to use the nodebot logo and the JS animation from the website for my talk at Node.js Interactive 2015.
I hope you don't mind, but I would like to give proper credit in the slides: how should I cite it? At this point I have "taken from the nodebots.io website".

Thanks!

What is a NodeBot?

I've been using the definition that "NodeBots are robots that are controlled by node.js", as per https://github.com/nodebots/www/blob/gh-pages/index.html#L9

This seems like a usefully broad and inclusive definition, that is easy to explain to others.

The trade off with inclusivity is you might end up with people at the party that you don't agree with. The example that led to this issue is the proliferation of things that could be called NodeBots under the simple definition, but only support blocking delays, rather than temporal style non-blocking task queues, which is pretty limiting if you need to keep reading sensors whilst orchestrating actuators. See: The talk by @rwaldron for a better explanation http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HT2e4QLGDLs

I'd suggest that the definition is fine, and that a system that only supports blocking execution is still a NodeBot if JS is doing the leg work, it's just not a very capable one. I think it'll work better if we make people feel included under the NodeBots banner, and then help them figure out how to make more capable systems.

NodeBots Tunisia 🇹🇳

Hi, I would like to start a nodebots chapter for Tunis, Tunisia.
We already exist as a javascript community as you can see;

but we would like to add the nodebots brand and represent the concept in our country.
I will be co-organizing this chapter with all the @TunisianJS crew; @Rebaiahmed, @ChamsBouzaiene, @heithemmoumni, @mnmajd, @chaoukibenfradj, @AmiriHoussem, @thevexx and @mabotn.

NodeBots Perú

Hello my name is Néstor, I am an electronic engineer, I realize projects of robotics, domotics, automation and now last internet themes of things.
I learned about this community, which I liked very much and I would like to be able to create it in my country.
I would like to know how I could do this and have your support.

Thank you

Nestor

Code of conduct abuse email isn't working

I can't figure out where the email goes and I got no response when emailing it. I think it's not being checked. What should we do with it? I'm happy to do the admin work to make it point anywhere (but I need DNS access). We should also maybe instead redirect people to event staff and/or project maintainers.

Contacts

Hi,
How would I get in contact with anyone at NodeBot in regards to an enterprise partnership?

Cheers
Mikael

Photos

I'd like to add back some photos of events. We have an awesome community and showing who we are and what we're doing would be nice.

Guide on how to start a meetup

Meetups currently don't have many rules.

  • They have to follow the code of conduct
  • They should be about learning from each other
  • They usually meet monthly and participate in nodebots day

These rules however aren't a guide on how to run a meetup. Can people share how they run theirs? And maybe we can put together a small document on this.

Thanks to @salmanfaris for raising this.

Somewhat confusing paragraph?

"Even if you don't have an Arduino you can still make a start via the nodebot-workshop which will teach you the basics of johnny-five through a series of code challenges"

I am not sure what "make a start" means....maybe a typo?

NodeBots Pune, India

We'll meet up in Pune, India and hack on Arduinos, Rasberry Pis, quadcopters, robots, and any other gizmos that need more input.

The event is planned in first quarter of 2021, inviting all enthusiasts to join US in hands on non-sim hackathon and coding challenges. You will get to learn new tweaks of Arduino and some more on Sphero.

See you there!

NodeBots India

This is the India Chapter of NodeBots.
Let's begin the exploration...
Please share tips and process

Let's get 2018 started!

BocaJS.org and Palm Beach JS would like to join this years (2018)'s NodeBot Days.

We will be hosting it in our usual location and even are lining up sponsorship.

any advice would be VERY welcome.

I have attended the MiamiJS event and want to make an additional event just north of that location.

Thoughts on the NodeBots Logo/Mascot/etc

Hey all :-)

So, I'd like to nominate the following logo as the "official" logo for NodeBots:

nodebot

The little robot was introduced to International NodeBots Day by Julián Duque - it was created by Julien Deveaux, The Noun Project. We'll have to attribute it to him, but I like that it's got personality without any potential copyright issues.

I know that we've been using the (Johnny-Five logo)[https://github.com/rwldrn/johnny-five/raw/master/assets/sgier-johnny-five.png] as our de-facto logo since we started, but I think it's time NodeBots as a whole branched out a little. Don't get me wrong - I love Johnny-Five and will evangelize the hell out of it. I just think that j5 is its own thing and deserves to have its own identity, separate from the broader NodeBots community.

Would love to hear your thoughts on the matter :-)

NodeBots of Nairobi

NodeBots of Nairobi is a semi regular meetup to hack on hardware using JavaScript.

NodeBots Pakistan

Hi,

We're first to start NodeBots meetup in Asia. 🙂 Its a humbling feeling to be a part of this revolution!
We at SkyImpel promote free & open-source technologies and offer bootcamps and workshops. We align with NodeBots code of conduct. 👍

Peace.
